Wife is the niece of Rip Engle, the guy Paterno replaced at Penn State. But I doubt that would be enough to attract Spurrier to that mess.

Definitely strikes me as a stretch. Spurrier appears to like his life in Columbia. He's been able to change the culture there in a meaningful way. And he's got Clemson beat in a way few other Carolina coaches have managed to accomplish.
