Stewart unhappy in a Toyota???

this definitely needed it's own thread.

why race for a mid level team when any IRL team owner will give you a ride. he'd had to shape up a little bit though.

Id like to see him race one of Haas's cars and see how much worse other teams really are

Not unexpected in this corner, I posted the possibility before. I don't think Smoke likes getting smoked by his own teamate in addition to the Toyota thing.

I'm with you Broyles. I never expected this to last. I have to say that I'm surprised he's upset this early. I never expected Stewart to be at Gibbs next season, but didn't expect him to say he was leaving this early. When I first heard this news I thought perhaps Stewart wanted to go into ownership in the Cup Series somewhere. Listening to Marty Smith say Stewart may get 50% of Haas doesn't really surprise me. Even though if he goes there I think it will be bad. He's talented enough to be respectable, but other than extreme work to make the chase each year it's possibly career suicide. I'm praying that somehow he goes to RCR. I don't know where else he could end up? If Labonte heads to RCR then Petty Enterprises will be open, Roush plans on signing Biffle. DEI? I'm curious to see how this will play out

Stewart at Petty will not happen, cut it in stone. Childress would probably love to have him. He is probably the closest to being like Dale Sr. of any driver.

i think that it will be good cause he will make money at haas with the ownership and i wouldnt be surprised if home depot follows him there. plus he would bring pretty much his pit crew with him. so really the only thing he would lose would be num 20 and the toyota.

I wouldn't count on the crew going, JGR is one of the most sought out shops by crewmen.
Zippadelli might go.

yea and zip is really the only one that matters. they can always find other crew men. but id imagine that stewet and haas will shell out some bucks and make this the next big team. they will add some cars with big name drivers.

The bucks have to come from sponsers, Haas doesn't have big name ones now. Aren't too many big name drivers on the market, Bobby Labonte maybe, Greg Biffle is possible, but I bet he stays at Rouch.

Could you imagine a lineup of Stewart, Harvick, Burton, and Bowyer. That immediately would rival Hendrick in terms of talent and with Stewart's knowledge it will help RCR in terms of having better equipment and a Champions perspective and experience. Childress is a winner, but I think this will really help Bowyer, Harvick, and even Burton

J.D. said that they would not let him out of his contract that he was their driver for 2009. It will be interesting to see what his options are then. Childress would not want to put a fill in driver for 1 year and HAAS will likely have to make a move before then too. Could JGR offer Tony a deal like Gordon's at Hendrick? Give him ownership in the fourth car for 2009?

No way Stewart will be at JGR next season if he wants out. Jack Roush and Ganassi tried to do the same thing with McMurray 2 years ago. They announced in June that Jamie was going to Roush, but it wouldn't be effective until the season after the next. They ended up letting him leave at the end of the season. I can't see someone going 1 3/4 years of a Nascar season knowing they where going to be leaving. I can't see JGR allowing that to happen

I believe that Bobby Labonte will be the fourth Childress driver. So mark RCR off the list. I don't think even Tony himself is sure of what to do,though I'm sure he's weighing his options. One incentive of being part owner of a team would be getting to race in the Indy 500, which his present contract at Gibbs will not let him do. Tony,a past IRL champion, has always stated his dream of someday winning the Indy 500. Even being a part-owner can be quite stressful and Tony has said that staying at Gibbs is an option. I guess only time will tell what Tony does.

Rousch will have 2 free agents in Biffle and Edwards; think she might replace one of them? big shoes to fill

Please God don't bring the Danica circus into Nascar. On the other hand, I would love the pleasure of seeing Tony Stewart laugh at her when she pulls one of her stupid stunts like she did with an IRL driver last year. (Helio maybe)
