Still doubting Cuonzo??

From what I hear the players are crazy about him. He is a high character individual and does not berate players. He instills confidence in them and allows them to make mistakes and learn from their mistakes. Maybe he is not the "life of the party" kind of guy, but he is a very impressive individual.

The announcers said he don't put up with any crap. Any kid late to practice if it's a minute they run 10 suicides if they are 3 minutes they run 30. He is big on being on time. And he wants the kids to go to class.

in b4 moral victory's are for loser.... or something to that effect

Moral victories are worthless and dumb. We're not talking about moral victories. We're talking about seeing promise in a young team that has been through a lot with a fresh head coach.

The loss still sucks, like they all do, but there were some things to get excited about.

Great effort and a great plan for the most part. We took some really bad shots at key points in the game...when we had been having success inside. A few possesions done differently and we could have been talking about something very special.

Losing sucks.

Missing point blank layups sucks.

Not setting any plays for 3 point looks sucks.

Other than that, I was happy. Good luck coach and hopfully he can get the best out of the team and put together a special season.

I hope tonight's game vs. Duke keeps the Cuonzo doubters quiet for a while. He took a brand new team that is picked to finish 11th in the SEC and played toe to toe with the most heralded team/coach in College Basketball on a neutral court. If we give Cuonzo time, I really think he can build something special in Knox-Vegas. And let's not be too quick to jump ship when we lose several games this year. THis team will still be fortunate to win more than it loses, but I still think they'll pull some upsets along the way. If things fall their way, an NIT or lonshot NCAA bid could be in the cards.
Cuonzo is THE MAN!!

What did Cuonzo specifically do during the Duke game to earn him such high praise? I think the jury is still way out on this man.

I agree. It's way too early to crown Martin, but he had his team ready to play yesterday. They exploited Duke's weaknesses inside. If they hadn't missed a ton of 3 ft shots, they may have won that game.

What people saw out of Martin was that his team played with an intensity we didn't see out of the last two years of Pearl's teams (which had WAY more talent). They may not be good, but they play smart and hard. That will shock a few teams this year.

We finally appear coached, but we have one helluva lot of recruiting to do and Duke isn't a great barometer, as they aren't very good.
