Still room on the bandwagon

This was a great sendoff for me..... oh, and Pearl before our 8 game suspensions.

Great game all around. Our rebounding was the key to me, Maymon played above his ability, Tobias had the ball the most - that is ideal. Scotty made some plays and was in it for most of the game.

Everyone comes out of this more confident and maybe we can weather the suspension and win some games. I'll be around for 24 hours and 24 minutes if anyone wants to get in any more shots. :)

Have fun in the game threads until Alabama!

One good win doesn't erase the fact that we have chocked/barely won against nothing teams, especially after we took down some big opponents...and now with the games quickly coming up where Pearl can't coach...

No I'm not jumping on the bandwagon and I'm still trying to decide if I want Pearl to resign or not at the end of the season...

I think we gotta give our D a lot of credit for smothering them and getting in their head early.

I didn't think we did that. I thought their guards got into the lane almost at will early. I thought we kinda traded baskets with them for a while.

What I saw tonight is that Memphis isn't physical enough to bang with an SEC team. They're very quick, but they can't guard and they can't rebound, and they have no-one who can go get a bucket for them.

But I wasn't sold on Tennessee's defensive improvement...too many driving lanes still open.

...if we are hitting shots, we can beat any team in the country...

That's true for tons and tons of teams, not just us.

You can't guarantee your shots will always be falling. Even Lofton had off nights. What we need is to find a way to win big ballgames when we're cold.

Need to hit open 3s.. something we are very inconsistent at. Can and Scotty have to nail their open 3s. Also Melvin and bone have a nice shot when shooting in rhythm.

Still not sold on this team. Their lack of consistency should scare the fans.

3 Things

1. For all the conspiracy theorist on the board, I guess the NCAA sent a letter to rescind the punishment since that is what you said made this team go into a funk between the Pitt and Oakland game.

2. For all the Pearl bashers questioning his coaching, cue the chirping sounds. His getting tossed Friday fired this team up, and you could tell that after he got tossed and now tonight. He and his coaching staff had a great plan tonight.

3. This game tells us what many people knew and that is if we are hitting shots, we can beat any team in the country because our defense is fueled from our offense. It also shows us that as we continue to grow as a team, we will continue to get better and are still one of the most talented teams there is.

Go Vols!

Tenn. does not need them. They are enough fans. They will not be missed.

Fantasy? It's fantasy that this team is inconsistent? If you can't tell Scotty and a couple of others are more motivated on D when their shot is falling, I guess it really shows who lives in fantasy land.

You can't say crap like this, then pretend that we're well coached or have a chance. Paint game and defense breed consistency, nothing else does.

Can pretend? You can hate Pearl all you want, but he is a great coach. And now you are arguing we don't have a chance? Pitt, Nova, and Memphis all got manhandled by us. To say there isn't a chance may be a bit of a stretch even by your standards.

This is exactly right. If Hopson only "decides" to play defense when he's making shots, what does that say about our coaching staff?
