stock market was up today...

You didn’t include dividends. Blue chips in the DJIA pay dividends.

NASDAQ has about 3.5 doubles PLUS dividends.
Good luck my friend. You are dealing with someone who believes the following:

US Government agencies were involved with 911

RT is a legitimate news source

Putin is a good guy

Believes Assad was democratically elected

At 12% you double every 6 years. Rule of 72. You want a good return on an ETF, look at QQQ, the 10 year return has been 25% double every 2.9 years

Now pull out your dictionary, turn to “special”, ignore your picture next to the definition, and try to understand what it means.

Now turn to “dividends” and “compounding”.
This all began when you laughed at palladium "only" doubling 4 times in 25 years. Keep that in mind.

Actually I said:
“Less than 4 doubles in 20-25 years isn’t anything special. How much can it be leveraged though?”

I didn’t “laugh”.
I didn’t use the word “only”.
I said “less than 4 doubles in 20-25 years” not “only doubling 4 times in 25 years”.

I think that that is 3 or 4 inaccuracies in just one sentence. I laugh at you. Keep that in mind.

True but it is special when it jumps from 200 to over 1000 almost overnight like it did when we were building a steam cracker in Port Arthur that needed a lot of Pd catalyst which was about 20 years ago. More recently it escalated from around 500 in 2016 to around 2500 at the time the pandemic hit, and that has had a significant effect on my business in industrial gas purification.

As for leveraging, I can only address its effects in the catalyst business.

I was asking if it has more aggressive margin limits than equities. If it does, the additional opportunity to leverage could make up for zero income and therefore zero ability to pay dividends on the investment.

I know you were asking something other than what I can address, which I tried to communicate but evidently came up short.

So here's my question about precious metals: How does the gubbamint tax physical gold/silver/etc...? And I'll be upfront and say that I lost all of my records in the same boat fire that will take my guns

Maybe if every transaction at the dealer is $599 or less the government us none the wiser. But you didn’t hear that from me.

That's good to know.. Anybody buy physical gold that has a good source? I don't care about pretty coins if it adds to the price. I want as much of the 'real' value as possible without paying for bling.

BTW do you have any recommendations on a semi-automatic pallet wrapping machine? Been looking at Lantech and Cousins.
I don't know anything about off the shelf pallet wrapping machines, the only ones we had were automated behemoths with drives and CNC controllers. My only recommendation is shop for something that you can get parts for and service when you need it, years down the road.

Good advice. Lantech is American made and based in Louisville and claims to have the longest track record, so I am leaning in that direction.

Is his departure going to make any meaningful difference (near-term)?
No. He’s still going to be Chairman of the Board.

Will still be heavily involved in the company’s strategy going forward.

Andy Jassy just taking over the day to day operations.

You can buy good ole Silver & Gold bullion online. They'll mail it right to your door.

I’ve purchased online via delivery from both APMEX & JMBullion. No problems with either.

Shame I lost it all in the flood...
How much premium do you pay over the spot price?

I just went to AMPEX, and it looks like about $100 more than the spot price for bars and $150 for coins...
