Ernie and Bernie, Dale Ellis, Reggie Johnson watching the lady vols turn into a national powerhouse and watching Gary Carters bomb to beat American U in the old volunteer classic and UT's domination over Kentucky there..Stokley was a true house of horrors for the Cats..I had some incredible times in that old building and some sad times too...Saw concerts there and so many other events....Hard to believe its not going to be there anymore.

Aw, yes, concerts. I remember well not seeing Sly and the Family Stone twice (cancelled due to Sly's bad acid trip) and somehow seeing Jethro Tull (good acid trip - thx again CIA).

:dance2:

I vaguely recall the James Gang. I was told they were excellent (always pick the strychnine out of the peyote button before vomiting :yuck:- fyi). :mf_surrender:

I lived across Frat Row from Stokely, went to school with Janie Stokely of the canned veggies fortune. Didn't know her well but several hundred other male UTers did - so I am told. :whistling:

They had track meets in there. Sprinters would start and end in the tunnels.

You could pay the cleaning crew $5 and they would let you in to roam around late at night. Which was a combination of fun and fright when you are on the front end of a paranoia high. :w00t:

But mebbe my favorite memory was the National Guard assembling inside when they were called out to police the campus and kill, er, assist students...in their efforts to protest the Vietnam War. :machgun:

I remember the Elton John concert in 1974, and the best game I ever saw when Tenn beat Kentucky 103-98.

Stokely was always generally abandoned which made it a great place to go relieve yourself lol.

In all seriousness I like the idea of playing an out of conference game there as a send out.
