yeah, ESPN keeps saying that, but they didn't anything other than a game. The ACC is only decided via the tournament. We'll see how round 3 goes if both teams make it to the championship game..
i remember when someone asked spurrier about another team charging the field and tearing down the goal posts. he said something to the effect that he would be concerned when someone beats florida and doesn't storm the field.
if i were a duke fan, i would take great satisfaction in the fact that no one can beat them without feeling the need to rush the court.......even north carolina.
i like the fact that florida doesn't rush the court or storm the field. i do think there is some meaningful symbolism there.
the only time i remember gator folks rushing the field was the florida-georgia game in 1984......which proves the point. florida won 27-0 and rushed the field because (1) beating georgia was an event (2) security in jacksonville isn't what it once was.
this just shows the state of UNC basketball recently.
I like how UT fans, who do not know what it is like to have ever been there before (in terms of basketball), are passing judgment by saying "act like you've been there before".
Maybe KU fans should not have rioted in the streets of Lawrence when KU beat UNC in the Final Four in 2008? After all, KU had appeared in the Championship game as recently as 2003???
This is ridiculous. People who are admonishing the UNC student section for storming the court are, in my opinion, just trying to deny their own greed and envy over the basketball tradition that UNC has.
Since a regular season game is JUST LIKE the Final Four...
People just think it's stupid for UNC fans to start acting a fool after a game that most people thought they would win. It's funny that an ACC regular-season "championship" is now a huge deal there. Reminds me of Maryland last year, and for UNC, that's really sad.
As a lifelong KU fan, I can state that regular season conference championships are still a huge deal in Lawrence...and, we have 54 of them!
If KU had not won the conference in two years, started out with a bad season, came back to put themselves in a position to win the conference by beating Mizzou in Allen Fieldhouse, and won, the KU student body would storm the court.
It's not sad.
