Stoudamire leaving Memphis

Yep Bruce was viewed as a car salesman but Cal wasn't? It's a Knoxville Memphis thing. Memphis has envy to every city in the state.

Let's be honest here; this is a big stretch.
It's one thing to say UM envies UT, in terms of prestige, but it's a stretch to say that the city of Memphis is looking up to everyone else in TN.

I'm also still wondering how Memphis' move into the AAC will affect them. They've been in CUSA & ruling it since Lville & Cincy left, but I can't really see kids getting excited by playing the other schools in that league...looks like the SEC would be a whole lot more attractive, so that could not only help UT, but schools like OM, MSU & Ark

We've always had that advantage, and it's yielded little. Top recruits have had no issues with signing on to play Southern Miss, UTEP, UAB, and similar schools for the majority of the schedule.

A better question is how many top 25 teams has Pasner beat with all that talent on the roster?

Zero, unless you count beating the #25 team in the Coaches Poll after they were given a play-in game by the Selection Committee.

How does this help UT recruit Memphis when UT has not had any real success recruiting the city other than the Stokes situation?

I dont know about that either. Finally Coach Martin is spending his time in other places other than Memphis...normally there's only one and two at the most kids that I would want us to even consider out of Memphis...As a rule its a VERY risky proposition taking those kids....I think most understand that though....so I agree...and dont really care one way or the other with him leaving....

Yeah I'll hold my breath on that happening...FOOTBALL MAN FOOTBALL....

It helped because we had a scolly and Memphis and Kentucky did not. Stokes was a different case where he came in durning the season.

We weren't the only school with an open scholarship. If Stokes really wanted to go to Memphis he could've stayed 5 more months in HS and gone to Memphis. It's been said by many if pearl was here he was ours regardless of if he came mid year or not.

This sucks for Memphis, but doesn't concern UT in the slightest.

It could help with a guy like Nichols in the future. Weakening Memphis helps everyone but Memphis in West TN recruiting. It isn't some huge deal, but it sure doesn't hurt us there when Memphis loses an ace recruiter.

There's Louisville next year, Cinncy, Temple and UCONN will be there in the future. 4 teams that would have been in the tourney from that conference in March and UCONN would have been close. True, it's not the Big East but it's certainly not CUSA either. AAC has TV contract with ESPN and the CBS family. Much more exposure than CUSA. Memphis will always have a decent out of conference schedule. So all I'm saying is that moving to the new conference shouldn't hurt.

They didn't have Stoudamire 3-4 years ago. They were top 5 in recruiting one of those years. I can just about guarantee that they will have an assistant at least at the same level as Damon. Pastner has as much to do with landing Nichols as anyone. Markel Crawford was a surprise early get. Nick King would have signed with Memphis no matter who was recruiting. It could hurt a bit for the '14 class since Damon was already deep into that class but there are a few names that won't miss a beat recruiting plus Aki Collins is staying. Like him or not, Pastner is very persuasive at recruiting and hiring. I look for a hire from Louisiana or possibly Texas.....maybe within the next few days.

Sorry to post a third time but he'll be replaced with an experienced ace recruiter soon.
