It wasn't a press conference....

And apparently it just now started. The time was incorrect.

A U of L source told me that as of 4:30 p.m., the board of trustees had not yet been asked to approve a new contract for Strong.

Basically, they said Strong has no reason to come to Tennessee.

They talked about how Louisville, is joining the ACC and Louisville plans to match any offer Tennessee gives.

They also mentioned Butch Jones being a good fit for Tennessee.


Yeah I bet you would love Strong to turn us down and us get some hack like Butch Jones and watch us be irrelevant for another 5 years.

Butch Jones has been my guess, all along. I knew that no coach at a major university would come to U.T.
The recruiting in the state of Tennessee is horrible and also to come to U.T. from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Florida State or Miami would be a lateral move.

My guess was that once we went through our "Wish List" and everyone turned us down, then we would go to another "Dooley type" of coach. A coach at a smaller university such as Grambling, East Carolina, SOuthern Miss, Marshall or Cincinnati.

For a coach at a lower level school, coming to U.T. would be career progression, so we will end up with JOnes; however; Jones has an offer from Colorado on the table but he wants to see what U.T. wants to do before he accepts the Colorado job....

If we snooze on Jones, then he will be gone to Colorado .....then we go to Petrino, Butch Davis, etc. etc...
