Strongest argument “for” the Whooo yet

I don’t really count the loss to KY in 1984 because I was one. Witnessed it 3 times since then.
Us older folks count it. Let’s just say that loss ensured they didn’t win for along time. Tennessee played terrible and still nearly won. Lost 17-12 GBO!!!!!

Was it not a thing before then? I don't remember
I remember only the cheerleaders doing the woo back in the day. At least as far back as the early 80's. Eventually that was the only version later generations of students ever knew.

There's many versions, but I think the Osborne Brothers version is the one that got Rocky Top nominated and voted in as a State Song. That's the one I'm sticking with!

I was at that game in '84. I remember time running out as T-Rob threw the ball out of bounds. I don't think you could spike the ball back then.
I was there also, very dissapointing, you couldn't spike the ball then it would be intentional grounding.

I dont care. I have no yearning to sound like a drunk sorority girl when singing one of the greatest fight songs in the land. People that love the woo are the lowest form of fan base. Yes they are sit down

And now we're beating them regular in basketball too, which has to really stick in their craw.

Well that settles it. Now when we wooo at a Kentucky game, we have to look at them when doing it.

If Kentucky fans hate it, I like it.

The tears are delicious, but I really don't understand why kentucky fans suddenly think they have become relevant. They have always been owned by Tennessee. This is nothing new. They still have a crappy stadium and facilities. They have been very mediocre at recruiting. There is more interest in horses than football in Lexington. I don't understand this sudden belief that they are relevant. I'm guessing because they are paying so much money for stoops?

The whole problem is the emphasis. After WOO, the crowd seems to stop singing. The emphasis needs to transfer to the closing line...
ROCKY TOP TENNESSEE!

Maybe TENN ES SEE with as loud as possible. And the woo fades away to a bad memory.

IT's a process. Get with it!

I went to a hockey game one time and the people in the section we were sitting in handed out three page instructions on how to cheer at the appropriate time. Maybe we need something like that.

If it's good enough for a stylin', profilin', limousine riding, jet flying, kiss-stealing, wheelin' n' dealin' son of a gun, it's good enough for me. So If you don't like it, learn to love it.
