that is sad.....america is lost..

There has been a long term effort by many special interests groups to do everything they can to eradicate American heritage and tradition.

All is not lost just yet though. :)

The ACLU types and the libs have made damn sure this country crumbles.

I hope you are right, I have my doubts.

There. This confirms my orginal thought on this issue. They had an agenda all along and some of you choose to ignore that possibility. I hope they get nothing from this publicity stunt.

Oh like hell it is bham! This is what they were shooting for from the get go.

how can you tell this is what they wanted? For that to be true it would have to be proven they purposefully wore the shirts to cause an incident. I see nothing that backs up that claim. And even if that is true it still has nothing to do with their case

Surely you saw the writing on the wall PJ.

Parents using their children as pawns to push their political agenda is wrong in my book. Period.

I say good for these kids, I don't give a damn why they wanted to wear the shirts. This is America and if these kids want to wear and an shirt with a flag, I say good go ahead. And if anyone is offended screw them, leave the country if they don't like it.

I just got the impression that this was the "You aint gunna tell my chillrens he cant ware no 'Merican flag t-shirt!" crowd trying to stir up crap on May 5th. They accomplished their goal and now they're looking for their paycheck.

This is how I see it and it pissed some of yall off last time. Whatever. I love America, vote republican, and like apple pie, but when I see an idiot taking advantage a public school district (which I used to be employed by) I'll call em out on it.

They deserve nothing.

Why stir up drama just to stir up drama? Did those kids wear those shirts or similiar ones on a regular basis, or were they brand new?

why is stirring it up illegal? Sure it seems stupid but it does look like they have a strong case.

and taking advantage of the public school system? Looks like the kids have a better grasp on things than the teachers/admin

I really don't care if they were new or 2 years old. If they want to celebrate Cinco de Mayo they can go home and do it. These kids have a right to wear these shirts if they want.

Oh, Ill admit that the reaction by the admin was pretty dumb too, but the orginal reasoning made perfect sense. You have a couple of kids, who deliberatly decked them selves out in specific gear, on a specific day that happens to be a Holiday for our neighbors to the south. Knowing full well that it was a Mexican Holiday. The Admin was trying to avoid potential conflict. I think that was made pretty clear in the orginal article.

and justin, sorry bud. I got nothing for you if you cant wrap your head around the idea that America is the World's melting pot. Good luck with that.

I'll add, I never said anything about their "right" to wear those shirts. I've always questioned their motives.

it's not a national holiday and is barely celebrated in Mexico. Only in the US is it blown up to actually be something

but are the motives really going to matter in the decision? I doubt it

No, their motives wont matter in the decision. Thats a sad fact for the school district to live with (as it punishes not just the admin, but the entire district). It is however a great victory for people who pull douchebag stunts to get the all mighty $.

See the McDonalds coffee scam artist if you need another example. Or the 22 yearold mother of 3 at walmart buying name brand stuff while on her iphone, loading it all up in her '10 Caddi, after paying for it with food stamps.

I dont condone that.

you should probably read up on the McDonald's coffee thing. It's not as black and white as many think it is

My guess the original agenda of the boys was to give a "F-you" to their fellow Mexican classmates, especially in light of all of the crap that has gone on the past few months. I seriously doubt there was any original grand scheme to get rich quick off of this. You are giving teenage boys entirely too much credit if you think otherwise.

No, Im giving their douchebag parents too much credit if anything. They saw an opportunity before/or after the fact (doesnt matter) and chose to hang it to a school district. Way to f up your community by taking funds from a school district. Im sure those books and whatnot will be free next year.

I'll tell you this, its obvious wearing the gear was premeditated. What leads you to believe my concept couldnt be?

the US already spends more (or as much) per student than any other country and they aren't getting any smarter. I fail to see how money is the issue holding back the education of our precious children

Or it could be the students were expressing their own opinion, is see nothing wrong with that.

The reasoning behind sending them home in the first place was very flawed.

I don't know so much about that, other than those who use their children to sue to prevent prayer at graduation ceremonies, etc.

A neighbor's son told me about a note he recieved to come to school for a conference, the topic was 'inappropriate clothing' since his daughter had worn a top of her own choosing that had some '60s or '70s counter culture motto of some sort.

He wore his Harley shirt and politely said yes maam, no maam throughout the interview and when he arose to walk out of the room the principle could read the back of the shirt which said; "If you can read this, the b...ch fell off."

He said he thought she got the idea and didn't call him back when his daughter was sent home for wearing a one inch hair barrette that was shaped like a pistol.

In my estimation political correctness has reached such an intolerable level in public schools these days that we are just one short step away from book burnings.

Your neighbor is the baddest of the bad asses. You should hang out with him and listen to some Toby Keith cd's.

People can get their point across without being that way. Getting paid for it after the fact only cheapens the fact of what they were "exercising their right/protesting". Free speech is something I support completely, but I don't manipulate the system and try to get a check out of the deal.
