As a student at UT I'd rather spend my 10 bucks on beer than watch that utter crap on the field at Neyland. I still wouldn't go even if tickets were free. The team sucks, the stadium is a dump, no alcohol is allowed, and you are exposed to the elements.

I'd much rather sit in my apartment with my 40" flat screen, invite some friends over, and get drunk while watching Worley complete more passes to the other team.

I have a word to describe you that I can't post on here.

It's douchebags like you that take being a student at UT for granted. I'd kill to be able to call myself an alum of University Of Tennessee. Unfortunately, I slacked off a bit in high school, and I found myself stuck at the local JUCO. But I'm getting my grades up, and within a year, will transfer to Tennessee. You better believe that I will be at every home game!

I'm not even a student, and I've managed to make it to 2 out of the first 3 home games, and I will be there again this Saturday. I've grown up a Vol through the best times, and I'll continue to be a Vol through the hardest times.

There's not a better place in the world than The University Of Tennessee! And if you don't like it here, than feel free to take your studies elsewhere. You won't be missed.

That's the word I'm looking for

Yeah, that's being nice.

Guy is whining about being "exposed to the elements" when Saturday is forecast to be an excruciating 83 degrees with part clouds and 20% chance of rain.

Such hardships

I mean I'm not saying the sun in your face for 3 hours or so feels nice, but c'mon, just say you don't like football. If you have access to $10 tickets to a D1 school and you turn them down bc you don't want to get too hot or cold, just say you don't like football. It's simple really.

Students should back the team more enthusiastically and the team should put a more exciting product on the field.

Both are in the wrong, so to say. If this team comes to the point where they give people hope, students will how up in larger numbers.

I'll be there every Saturday, but not all students give as much of a damn about football as I do.

I chose to attend UT because it presented me an opportunity at an affordable and marketable education. Your enthusiasm is great, but there are better cities and universities. Not saying UT isn't a good place, but it isn't heaven on Earth like some make it out to be.

I do find it funny how the biggest Vol fans are those who never attended the university....

You do realize that not every vol fan gets on Volnation. And years ago it wasn't as important to go to college.

I can't help but laugh at the "Well back in my day!!!! blah blah" crowd.

i can speak on this and say "back in my day" isn't too far back.

the thought of not going never once occurred to me.

the reasons i hear are just garbage. i went to 12:30 jefferson pilot games back in the day. i never had to give up alcohol. we drank before the game, we snuck it in during the game, we drank after the game.

for about half of the year, we were treated to a wet t-shirt contest in the 2nd half of games.

i am a crazy fan like so many others all over every school, but trust me i knew several girls who didn't know a football from a hockey puck and they all went and knew it was the place to be on a saturday.

it was.....wait for it.....wait for it.....fun!

i understand alumni because of cost, travel, the team isn't good, etc, etc, etc.

but, a student, where all you have to do is roll out of bed and then you are home within 20 minutes afterward.

i don't get it. sorry.

When you live and breathe Tennessee football like me, then you'd understand that The University Of Tennessee is best place to be. It's the only place for me. Everybody's different I know, but it's jmo.

I ultimately hate you because you're a gator. But you make some great points, and I always can respect football fans like you. :salute:

The thing is tickets are too expensive for the experience. $83 for top most seat in YY? That is insane. Schools need to understand HDTV has made the viewing experience so much better on the couch and adjust.

If you think that is expensive, try buying pro football tickets next time.

That's completely understandable if you can't afford it or don't wish to pay that much. But there's people that will, and students that pay only 10 and still don't.

What happened first? Did our program stop putting a quality product on the field or did the students stop coming?

I mean, it's not exactly the chicken or the egg...

My son went to the UGA v LSU game Saturday and took a picture of the student section almost 2 HOURS before the game. Student section was completely full and loud during the team warm ups way before the start of the game! Wish I could figure out how to post that picture - GBO - don't let the Dawgs show better team spirit than our VOLStudentBody!!!

It'd be shady, but students on here could each get 2 guest tickets and sell them to people on here for the face value. Since they're not selling to our bum student body.
