Mack Brown got to meet new running back coach Stan Drayton last week. Drayton's first order of business was to meet Brown and make sure he was still on track as far as staying a Gator. It had to be a pretty traumatic couple of weeks or so for brown when Urban Meyer resigned and then came back and a little over a week later his position coach and recruiting coach at Florida, Kenny Carter decided to leave for Louisville.
Brown got his his first look at Drayton and a couple of other staffers in attendance. “They were here a couple of days ago,” Brown said Friday. “It was Coach Drayton, Coach Addazio and Coach McCarney.” “Coach Drayton seemed pretty good. I met him earlier at school that day and then came to my house that night. They just told me what they are going to do on offense. They said they will run a two running back system in the offense and I would be a big part of it.” The staff understands the position Brown is in and wanted to make sure where he stands with his commitment. “They asked me about it and I said I was just taking it all in right now,” Brown said. “I am taking my trip to the University of Florida next weekend and will talk about it some more.”“Tennessee they are saying the same as always, they need another big running back next year,” Brown said. “They have a good running back in Bryce Brown and they need me as a home run hitter.” “Florida State said I can come in and start immediately.” “I haven't really talked to Clemson too much like that.” Brown knows how he feels at the moment. “I am pretty firm right now to Florida,” he said. “I'm all committed to the University of Florida.” Will there be any other official visits on the horizon for Brown? “Not at this moment, no sir,” he said.

Matt James's 6-7, 285-pound frame catch the attention of observers at East practices. James might have a point and while his name has been primarily associated with northern schools on the recruiting trail, he insists that his recently discovered interest in the Florida Gators is truly legitimate.

“The facilities are top-notch,” James said. “They’re probably the most elite of the schools I’m still looking at that are farther away.”

James plans an up close and personal look at the Florida campus and facilities. His agenda has a visit to Gainesville this weekend.

“I plan to visit Florida this coming weekend,” James noted, as the Florida visit will be the first of the three final visits he will take before National Signing Day. “Cincinnati will be the week after that, and then Ill be at Notre Dame the last weekend in January.”

I had to read that article 3 times trying to understand what the football coach from Texas was doing talking to Stan Drayton....

granted, I don't follow recruiting very much...

There is good news, they gave away their future offense. They are planning on running a two back system. That falls right in the lap of Monte's strong points. I would love to see Florida, Auburn, and anyone for that matter run a more pro style offense... because we proved this year we can stop them.

This weekend, Taylor decided to make a visit to Gainesville, Florida and check out the University of Florida Gators. The Gators have a desperate need at linebacker moving forward and have hired two linebacker coaches in defensive coordinator George Edwards and outside linebacker coach D.J. Durkin to coach and recruit the position. "Man I'm telling you I love it,” Taylor said Saturday during the trip. “My mom and I gotta talk. She is here that's why it's so big. She loves it and she is my inspiration."

Matt James isn't going to end up at Florida. He will end up at Cincy or OSU. He is a total homebody.

Taylor just seems to be on the first ticket out of town for some reason. LSU and UGA backed off of him in the summer and UT was the only program to give him attention. One week he is talking up the Irish, the next he is wanting to be a Gator...

Ambles wanted desperately to be a Gator until they backed off of him due to off the field antics

I thought it was funny they told Brown they were not going to recruit any other backs as long as he stays commited or doesn't visit other schools. But you heard the announcers of the AA game talking about their meet and greet with Dillion Baxter and they mentioned FL called while they were in the room. Not that I blame FL but the stuff they tell these kids is nothing but bullcrap....

And honestly now I am not so sure we can't catch FL. I know most people think that is impossible but if the cards fall right with Prater and Rogers then you throw in a couple more five stars like a Dillion Baxter and Ambles and Miller get 5*'s it is possible.

i'm sure Tennessee is completely up front and honest with all of their recruits.

You're all even more delusional than we thought if you think you'll get Prater, Rogers AND Amble.

I believe you are mistaking. I believe they were discussing Prater at that moment, if I remember correctly.

Nope, they were talking about Brown.
I think you are confused as to what VictoryVille was saying. The announcers were talking about Prater being contacted by UF, although I think his family actually contacted UF. I didn't hear anything regarding Baxter and UF on saturdays broadcast
