I've noticed in the last couple of weeks a really souring mood here. And I don't blame you for being disappointed and a bit frustrated with the last couple of losses. But remember, those were tough games even if you were at full strength and you haven't been.

I really thought -- and said this -- that UT was getting better as the season wore on. Prior to the injuries, I think UT and Arkansas were the teams that had the hot hand in the SEC.

UT was 5-6 last year and this year headed to a bowl. Seems to me you also have a lot to look forward to, next year (except of course for the whuppin you are going to get in Gainesville :) ).

At any rate, wanted to say that you guys need to suck it up as fans and realize it is much more often going to be like this no matter where you are than it is likely to be talk of BCS bowls and championships. Just a fact of life.

That's what happens when we lose on a last second play to LSU and get spanked by Arkansas.

Its hard to go from being considered one of the best one loss teams in the country to where we are now. Your right though.

I come to this board because I am a life long Vol fan. What I will never understand is the fans of other SEC teams that hang out here. LG, you may be a great guy and all that, but save your advice for you fellow gators. I hate UF. By the way, I get preached to on Sundays.

No I like Law and seeing his take because it is reasonable, I am glad he hangs here.

Sheesz! My apologies for intruding into your misery.

I hang out here because I find the fans here to by and large be objective, funny, and knowledgeable. Sure, I come on to yap about the Gators and tease you when we get the better of the annual game with UT. But to me its all in good fun.

I don't know why you would "hate" UF. We haven't done anything to you personally, have we? A rival, sure. But its just a game (be it football or basketball or tennis or soccer, or whatever). Look at it this way -- you NEED us to make the game so meaningful.

Except with hatvol

I'm not looking for affirmation, though I appreciate your kind words.

But these folks that jump on me or other schools' fans just for having a polite word to say, that makes no sense. And its kind of the point. You went from a season last year that by any measure was a failure to a season this year that is successful, albeit not as much as you'd hoped but largely because of injury problems. Team and fans were enthusiastic.

Now is not the time to be upset about how it has turned out.

How did Fla and Tenn go from great teams to this? I know you have one loss but they are not sharp like when they came to Tenn. If they dont find it soon Arky will kill them.

Im not jumping on you, I said you were a good guy, it's just hard for me to take your "instruction" considering you are a fan of a rival. Do you hang out on the UF board as much as you do here?

Understand, you don't strike me as needing anyone's affirmation. Just wanted to let you know not all are currently one war path. Although, if Fulmer keeps this trend next year I am ordering my warpaint.

Florida's problems are mostly ofeensive. On defense, when healthy, we are still Top Ten even without Thomas.

The problems on offense for Florida are these:

1) Still a very young offensive line. Going into the season, they had no experience among them. Now they have some, but the simple schemes we adopted to cover the lack of experience are being exposed by defensive coordinators and folks are getting to Leak more and more.
2) No consistency at running back. Wynn has been good at times, but he's undisciplined and not always very motivated.
3) Injuries. Harvin has been playing with an ankle sprain for about 3 weeks.
4) No identity. We are still stuck between a team wanting to develop an option and a drop-back passing offense. But because we cannot depend on our running game, we are just veyr mediocre at both.
5) No kicking game. What is Hetland now, 3 of 10? Missing 30 yarders? It hurts.
6) Leak is ruined. He is probably the most over-coached QB in college football history. He has talent and smarts. But along the way they drilled it into his head that he is not allowed to play on instinct. Add to that Tebow-mania all around him and he's petrified back there, second-guessing everything, afraid to make a mistake.

never said LG wasnt an alright guy, as a matter of fact, I said he seemed like a good guy. So you can take your stick........

Forget it. No personal offense taken.

Back to the subject at hand ....

Let me put it this way: What did they have to do to make you happy? Let's assume you win the remaining games and go to a good bowl game and win that. What's wrong with 10-3? Or if you lose one of those. Is 9-4 so awful considering who the losses are to and considering the injury problems?

yes, 9-4 is awful, at Tennessee we should expect to be competing for a championship instead of a losing season followed by loses to you, LSU, and a Ark rout. I understand that you cant win them all, but LG, I'd like to hear you after a 5-6 season.

I distinctly remember you noticing how overmatched UT was when they played Florida. To make me happy they need to compete in every big game, and look like they belong. When UT makes its move out of the second tier of the SEC back into the first, I will be happy.

Sure, 10-3 would be a good turnaround from last year's debacle. But I think the problem many Vols fans are starting to have is that 3- or 4-loss seasons is beginning to look like what we can expect from Tennessee every year, rather than 1- or 2-loss seasons in which we are competing for championships.

I think the back-to-back losses have some fans upset because they emphasize how far we still have to go to get back to that level. Sure, the injuries hurt. But you can't get totally manhandled on both sides of the ball every time you play a good team and expect to compete for anything.

that's what's the most distressing, getting completely pushed around and then abrolutely destroyed by Ark.
