Suggestions For Our Slumping SB Players: How To Get Out of A Funk, Flip Your Karma &

This past spring I went out to Barksdale Stadium/Goodfriend Indoor Tennis Center to watch and support our Men's and Women's tennis team as they were going through the worst season in both program's history. FYI, our men's team finished 0-12 in the SEC. DEAD LAST. Ditto for our women's team which finished with 1-11 SEC record. Obviously, neither the men's nor women's team made even the SEC tournament not to mention the NCAA tournament. But I still believe in these programs. To be more precise I believe in the head coaches (coach Winterbotham for the men's team and co-head coaches Patricks for the women's team) who have all exhibited honesty, integrity, humility and class in their head coaching tenures at UT. Win or lose I don't care. Shine or rain, I will be there. I'm gonna keep supporting these two likable programs as long as I can regardless of how they do in the win/loss column.

For some (obvious stated) reasons, I can't say the same about Holly Warlick. That's the real problem. Until I can respect and trust Holly on a personal level & also as a head coach, she won't get my support/loyalty. But I still do love and respect my Lady Vols as I do Peace Corps, Salvation Army or Red Cross.

I totally understand you and agree with your prior synopsis:
When Holly Warlick admits, JUST O-N-C-E for Pete's sake, "yeah, I screwed up coaching tonight. I need to do a better job coaching these hard-working incredibly talented players. It's my fault. I'm not getting most out of my players. I need some help," instead of saying, "players this, players that, quick shooting, pound the ball inside, blah blah blah," let me know. When that happens, my respect for Holly as a head coach AND a person will be at another level, and I may seriously consider jumping back on the WBB bandwagon. Think Holly will do that?

It's hard to admit something like this to yourself, much less to a national audience. But it is also an element of growth and a showing of humility. And it can be turned into a positive by following such a quote with ... "I will and have learned from this and will work hard to not have to answer such inquiries in the future."

I respect you 2A4E. And I do not doubt your loyalty. Like me, your loyalty to the team, program and players is without question,,, but your concerns for the staff is/was your question -mark...HW will make changes this year. She already has made significant ones, that I can readily see... We can both hope and expect that she will continue to continue with her present path.

I will be Waiting...watching...and hoping for the best. I get excited and get goose bumps whenever I watch my Lady Vols play even after "washing my hands" clean of the program. :)
