I was ok with most of his fourth quarter decisions, the execution just wasn’t there from Jimmy and the interior offensive line (Chris Jones would honestly be my vote for MVP). When I was most mad at Kyle was when he declined a penalty in the first half that would’ve made it I think 2nd and 16 in favor of like 3rd and 2. And then the Chiefs converted. Weird decisionYou better not let Shanahan call the plays in the 4th quarter then.
I don't think they have a single contract that expires this offseason, but they will have to move a few guys around. I figure they got lots of guys with escalating salaries. Jimmy G's cap hit alone goes up $6.6M.
I still feel like the 49ers offense is getting shortchanged here. Jimmy had a bad fourth quarter, but this offense scored the second most points in the regular season of any team. It’s not the same offense the jaguars or bears had, and Jimmy, while not Mahomes, isn’t Bortles or Trubusky either. And neither of those teams got a 1 seed or made a super bowlYou just don’t typically get a top-2 defense in consecutive years, even with the same players. More likely they’ll slide to #8 or so like Jacksonville and Chicago before them, and without an elite QB that’s a wild-card recipe
Mahomes is the rightful MVP. He was under incredible pressure and had a pretty good game, all things considered. By the time he completed the comeback and took the lead, Williams only had 91 yards from scrimmage and one TD. Williams essentially had 32 garbage time yards and 1 TD. All they needed was a first down and the game was over. In fact, the smart play is to give yourself up.
