Death row is too easy for these scum. Make them live life with the general population as a child rapist.

Nonsense ruling. No use for these people in society and I feel no need for my tax money to go towards supporting their incarceration.

how would you feel if you could go kick the ever living crap out of them everyday? would that make you feel better, because that's one of the options i'd have on the table, as well as bringing back public hanging. we will see if this changes some ppls minds

Stick them in with the general population and they will live less time than they will on death row.

I'm a little wary of the death penalty to begin with so this ruling is not a major deal to me. As long as these people are severely punished that is.

Not specific enough. Want to see VBH's version. I can't comprehend wanting to molest a child, so I can't fully believe that incarcerating a child molester is viewed as punishment by the molester, in the same manner as I would view it as being punished. He molests children, to think he views the world in the same manner as I do is not reasonable.

There are 2 choices - imprisonment and death via the state. I'm on the fence about the latter so I see the former as the best choice.

To be philosophical about it, there are 3 souls at play. The victim, the molester and the punisher. The victim's soul cannot be made whole. As the punisher, via the state, I don't want to sacrifice my soul to attempt to destroy the soul of the molester. I don't know if the death penalty would be a greater or lesser punishment for the molester - it's a guess as you suggest. (Hopefully that came out right)

As the state or individual, how are we sacrificing our soul by ending the life of the molester? If you put laws and the punishment for breaking said law in place, the criminal chooses his soul be put on the line.

I am beginning to wonder what the purpose in this is?

I understand your point. That's why I'm a fence sitter on the death penalty.

We've seen the innocent exonerated. The DP is a permanent choice. If it were clearly proven that it is a major deterrent to future crimes then I'd say it's worth the risk. I'm also uneasy with the state being sanctioned to kill it's own citizens. I'm not entirely comfortable with having the right myself to condemn another citizen to death.

Tough call for me.

I'm sure it would affect me to condemn someone to death. That's what I mean by soul sacrificing.

I don't mind not having the death penalty, but under no circumstances do you let these guys out of prison EVER.

OK. Then I go back, what purpose are we serving by locking up men for the rest of their lives?
