Thought we could discuss who has exceeded and fell short of expectations thus far.

Exceeded expectations on offense.

Alex Rios would be an MVP candidate if he were on a big market team, his numbers have been extraordinary.

Pitching.

Ubaldo Jiminez has been flat out dominant in every sense of the word...listen to this carefully, he is on track to go 29-2. He has had filthy stuff but has yet to put it together, I will admit that I didn't think he could maintain his current pace about a month ago, he is astounding.

Fell short of expectations on offense.

Aaron Hill has been a major disappointment, some might point to his hamstring as an excuse but there is no excuse for hitting .187 at this point in the season.

Pitching.

So many to name but where to start...Javier Vasquez has been awful but I expected that...I guess I have to go with Josh Beckett, he was terrible before the injury.

Out of nowhere impact player.

This goes for both categories of hitting and pitching...nobody has been more productive with lower expectation coming into season than Brennan Boesch, hell most probably never even heard of him, yet he is hitting over .340 in nearly 200 at bats, he also has hit 11 home runs and knocked in a very impressive 40 runs.

Vlad is a surprise to me. I was one of the people that thought he was done but he's on pace to have the most RBI's in his career. For fantasy i would Brett Gardner.

Biggest surprise of the pitchers has to be Colby Lewis.

Plenty of pitchers you could say are biggest surprise...Barry Zito, Livan Hernandez come to mind...Shaun Marcum is another.

I thought Vlad was done as well, he looked awful at times last year.

Marcum was pretty good before missing a lot of time due to injury. Kind of surprising I guess though that he's been as good if not better than he was before the surgery.

Pleasant surprises for me are Vlad Guerrero, Joey Votto, Andre Either, Scott Rolen, Aubrey Huff, Arthur Rhodes, R.A. Dickey, Mike Pelfrey

Disappointments - Johan Santana, Aaron Hill

Troy Glaus in Atl tearing it up.

Jose Reyes coming back from injury and needing no time to get going.

Pettitte/Hughes pitching as well as they have.

The entirety of the Giants pitching staff...seems like they have the chance to throw a shutout every night.

Scott Rolen tearing it up.

Seattle....I really thought they would be doing a little better.

The mets...I really thought they would be worse then they are.
The Phillies forgetting how to hit for the month of May and most of June.

Cin competing with St. Louis. Did see that coming.

Halladay going 1-6 after going 6-0

I added Votto not because I'm surprised he would be good but didn't think he would be this good. He is racking me up tons of fantasy points.
He was actually putting up better numbers last season that he has so far this year. Not much better, but still a little better.

I think the Reds as a whole falls on my pleasant surprises list. I thought this year would be a decent year, but we are a couple weeks from the break and they are in first. It's getting harder and harder for Cardinals fans to write this off as "oh, it's still early."

Jaime Garcia hasn't been what I'd consider great, and he's coming back down to Earth here lately, but he's still been a lot better than I figured.

Jason Vargas from Seattle has pitched well this year too. I wonder if Cliff Lee taught him a few things?

that strasburg is not the next coming of jesus. he is in fact a human, and should not in any way be an allstar this year.

That isn't surprising...he tore it up, now it is time for him to make an adjustment as hitters start to get to know him and adjust.

i just had to vent some sarcasm for my utter hatred of the coverage he gets every time it is his day to take the baseball. they are still at it calling for him to be an allstar which is sickening to me. the allstar game will lose all credibility as a game for featuring the best first half players to me if he makes it.

Doesn't every team have to have a representative? Who else from the Nationals should go?

I get that it's silly for him to be considered solely because of the hype surrounding him, but I can't really argue for another National going ahead of him either. (Not to mention, he's been quite good so far)
