Thought we could discuss who has exceeded and fell short of expectations thus far.
Exceeded expectations on offense.
Alex Rios would be an MVP candidate if he were on a big market team, his numbers have been extraordinary.
Pitching.
Ubaldo Jiminez has been flat out dominant in every sense of the word...listen to this carefully, he is on track to go 29-2. He has had filthy stuff but has yet to put it together, I will admit that I didn't think he could maintain his current pace about a month ago, he is astounding.
Fell short of expectations on offense.
Aaron Hill has been a major disappointment, some might point to his hamstring as an excuse but there is no excuse for hitting .187 at this point in the season.
Pitching.
So many to name but where to start...Javier Vasquez has been awful but I expected that...I guess I have to go with Josh Beckett, he was terrible before the injury.
Out of nowhere impact player.
This goes for both categories of hitting and pitching...nobody has been more productive with lower expectation coming into season than Brennan Boesch, hell most probably never even heard of him, yet he is hitting over .340 in nearly 200 at bats, he also has hit 11 home runs and knocked in a very impressive 40 runs.
