Sweet 16 Bound

Uh no but it could be from getting shoved in the back every time she leaves the floor to catch. Alexus had the same issue.

A lot of our turnovers against Buffalo were because of this. We would throw the pass and soon as the post player left their feet they were pushed in the low back and thrown off balance not reaching the height of their jump. Ball went oob several times because of it.

Not sure what everyone’s obsession with Tamari’s hair is suddenly. It’s been that way her entire career along with many other young women. Protective styles are great for black women in sports. Less maintenance and time. Would you rather she have a silk press and spend 3 hours in the bathroom everyday?

Nah, it could not be that getting grabbed, clawed, hacked, tripped, and pushed in the paint is effecting her play. Gotta be the hair....

Were playing with house money now everyone we meet going forward will be a higher seed. I really think we can beat Louisville if we get our A game from key players like Burrell, Dye, and maybe Darby has one of her good games. We'll be a huge underdog so hopefully we will have game that day and move on.
Let's get em' revved up like Sara 💪🧡🏀🧡

Tennessee is getting overlooked yet again, and we are basically at the bottom of everyone’s list for teams in the sweet 16. Most didn’t even think we would make it this far! We are a contenders with or without Jordan Horston, and we made it here by beating two solid teams, one who upset Oregon. ESPN has named top 25 players in sweet 16 teams now, and Tamari Key came in at 25, and Alexus Dye came in at 22. Totally disrespectful that they weren’t higher. Alexus Dye has been getting a double double both games. This should be another motivation tab to get the Lady Vols fired up! Louisville is not unbeatable, just remember that!

Charlie Crème has ranked TN as no. 13 for teams in sweet 16. And I quote, “Belmont might have been the better team on Monday night, but Tennessee found a way,” written by Charlie in his article. Totally doesn’t make sense, given Tennessee won, which makes Tennessee the better team!

I post these articles to show you that we are an underdog, and we aren’t even under the radar. That’s all the confidence we need to come into the sweet 16 busting those doors open. Go Lady Vols!

I agree will need to get a big game out of Key, And what would concern me is Darby on Van Lith ? i don`t like that matchup

Just an observation: The ball seemed to go off of Key's hands several times in the game. Could it be because she is constantly messing with her hair?

If she would quit bringing the ball down before going up she would experience much less of the picks and spills. Bringing the ball down kills your height advantage

I’m guessing Kellie will rotate Walker, Miles and Wynn to face-guard Van Lith, hoping the three of them in rotation will keep their collective legs strong enough to do that exhausting, intense job.

One thing this game showed was that Belmont beating Oregon was not a fluke.[/QUOTE]
I really think Tamari Key being so foul prone has finally got into her head now that she won’t even contest some layups in fear they will call a foul on her. I also saw that she wasnt banging the glass part of that was Belmont center completely wrapping her arms around her but there were moments where she just wasn’t rebounding
Kellie also puts Key in different spots and changes the way she plays her on Defense depending on the team. With the loss of Keyan, we have seen TK be less aggressive defensively in the 1st half of games to prevent early foul trouble. She isn't going after every block in first halves of games and that may be by design to avoid foul trouble.

That’s a smart plan try everything to avoid a foul in the 1st half and play a bit more assertive in the 2nd half

At this point she has to be extra careful though. We experimented but discovered our best option is to keep her on the floor as much as possible. Emily just can’t go at all and Karo is still limited defensively with her strength a bit.

One thing I’ve noticed is that she has been much better the last 4-5 games about avoiding offensive fouls. A lot of times those were the cheap ones that were putting her in foul trouble. She’s saving them for the defensive end which is good.

But in all i think the matchups are pretty even Louisville don`t have the size and the bench Stanford and SC so to me this is anyone game i say toss up.
They have a huge edge in the three point shooters and that will decide the game. We usually get beat so badly due to the three point shot that we don't have a way to recover those points. Teams that can make 8 to 10 threes usually beat us cause we don't have an answer to reclaiming those points. If we somehow make as many three pointers as they do Saturday we win that game.

True she needs to play smart if Emily and Stiplin are not gonna play

I think Kaiya would be a fantastic defender on her, if she doesn’t switch off.

Exactly. Our best defenders have to dig deep to find enough energy to stick like glue to her without switching — which will be extremely difficult.

I feel strongly that disrupting and frustrating Van Lith for the entire game is key to pulling the huge upset. When VL gets going and gets fired up it fuels everyone else. Our guards need to play their absolute stingiest defense of the entire season against her to make her body language show some rare doubt about her effectiveness. If they can get in her head there’s a chance her teammates will see that and start doubting themselves, too.

The Lady Vols have to somehow find another gear for Saturday.

I think the defense should look a lot different than it has looked in recent games. I think you cover the three point line and stay as close to your man as possible. You keep Key low in the post to contest the drives. You don't give three point open looks no matter if they get a few layups because of it. I'm shutting down the three point shot because 10 threes is 30 points and it takes a team 15 possessions to get that same amount making twos.
