Syracuse V. Florida

Syracuse showed once again that Florida doesn't play defense just like the last 2 years. There offense wasn't much better, just jacking threes. Highly overrated.

Yes. Same symptoms of their last couple squads. Really soft and 3 pointers galore. Quick wingmen are going to kill them.

UF Vandy should be an interesting tussle. A chick game with fewer jump balls and less D.

Again, Syracuse won by 12 in the state of Florida and they played like crap. Florida looks like little boys out there. You can't possibly still think they have Final Four potential.

Free throws,
31 for syracuse
13 for florida

Florida was soft but they were also frustrated inside because the only guy who had a sack, warner was getting hammered on along with tyus for no call, yet florida was in foul trouble for ticky tack crap.
It was a frustrating game to watch. When you get no calls and the other team is over your back all over the offensive boards it makes it impossible to win.

I hope their cycles don't all sync up before that game, might get ugly.

Why is it frustrating watching a UT rival lose? I love it

When you shoot 30 three pointers and the other team makes a living underneath the basket, there is bound to be a gap in free throws, not to mention Syracuse shot 6 when Florida was fouling at the end of the ball game. You do understand how that all works right?

You are just looking for excuses. Just admit it, you were wrong, Florida isn't that good.

That's what separates the Big East from the SEC: Toughness. Can you imagine what would happen to Florida is they had to deal with West Virginia? Werner and Macklin are the only two guys on that roster who wouldn't leave the floor in tears.

No you are right. Losing to the number 6 team means you are no good. Beating the then number 2 team also means you are no good. There are only 12 teams that are good, and uconn is one, and michigan state is another, they are better than the sec teams they lost to...

As the game is called today, over the back isn't a foul, so positioning, aggressiveness, desire and strength beget rebounds. UF doesn't exhibit much of any.

That foul disparity is large, but didn't seem so in the game because passive teams don't get fouls called.

UF is Billy Donovan's team. None of this is new. The aberration was the squad with 3 solid defenders and rebounders, whic happened to have 4 NBA types. Donovan couldn't ruin a team led by Horford.

It's amazing to watch. He goes to the Final Four with Donnell Harvey pounding on people. He then puts together the intestinally challenged teams led by Nelson and Walsh. He gets the Rich Kids and wins two titles. How does he follow that history up? By recruiting a bunch of guys I wouldn't want on my side in a fight against the UF majorettes.

MSU has significant issues. MSU has been awful in all of its big games thus far, including the Gonzaga game it won. They definitely hurt for a post presence, which helped UF from a matchup perspective. The same lack murdered them agains UNC, who has the best post game in the nation.

The UConn win was a decent one for UK, but it wasn't earthshattering. That said, close wins over good teams are big confidence builders. We need some of those.

North Carolina must be even worse than Florida since they lost by more against Syracuse.

I do agree with BPV that TN needs some close wins. I am hoping they are not tested at all until the Memphis game. I want Tyler and Wayne and Hopson to get some eye popping stats abusing the guys who we play until the end of the month.

Sounds eerily similar to one Phil Fulmer.

Losing to the number 6 team in what is essentially a home game when you knock down 13 threes and the number 6 team tries to hand you the game on multiple occasions isn't the mark of a good squad. If Syracuse plays worth a damn in the second half last night, Florida gets run out of the gym. Why? Because they are soft, jack up crap tons of threes and rely on forcing more turnovers than they commit, which they didn't do last night. Hell, a good deal of Syracuse's TOs were unforced. Florida may very well be a tournament team, but they won't be a very good one. In any case, they were overrated by you, the pollsters and a multitude of others.

And for the 3000th time, the transitive property doesn't work in basketball, not to mention UNC played Syracuse in New York.
