Systemic Racism

Petition seeks end to ‘systemic racism’ in Gwinnett schools

  • Implement mandatory implicit bias training for all faculty and staff members (including school resource officers) by July 29, the day teachers report to school;
  • Curate mandatory culturally responsive curriculum, lessons, and resources for all K-12 core classes by the 2021-2022 school year and announce plans for mandatory black history/African studies and optional ethnic studies courses for middle and high school students;
  • Create local and district advisory councils on equity and justice that make recommendations based on data and allow anonymous reporting forms for incidents and experiences of bias to be accessible to students, families, faculty, staff, and other community members by the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year;
  • Release specific recruitment and retention plans for black and other diverse teachers and administrators by the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year.
Gwinnett County is an interesting case.

Very much a "Yay equality, but go do it over there where we dont have to deal with you" county.

Been in a couple meetings with some of their elected officials. Even among the minority populations there are some big differences in the interactions between classes.

It's not the Augusta "oh that's just Reginald, his family has worked for mine for generations" it's more "hey you pleb, go stand in that corner until I feel like addressing you" and then they are always so shocked to see someone standing in the corner.

There is no such thing as systemic racism on a national scale in America today. First of all most inner city police chiefs are black as are their mayors. That's anecdotal but here are the facts which support the notion that systemic racism is a myth:

The police fatally shot nine unarmed blacks and 19 unarmed whites in 2019, according to a Washington Post database, down from 38 and 32, respectively, in 2015.

Nine unarmed blacks and we've got a national crisis on our hands? Here's more:

In 2019 police officers fatally shot 1,004 people, most of whom were armed or otherwise dangerous. African-Americans were about a quarter of those killed by cops last year (235), a ratio that has remained stable since 2015. That share of black victims is less than what the black crime rate would predict, since police shootings are a function of how often officers encounter armed and violent suspects. In 2018, the latest year for which such data have been published, African-Americans made up 53% of known homicide offenders in the U.S. and commit about 60% of robberies, though they are 13% of the population.

The first problem we've got is that blacks (mostly young males) are responsible for over 50% of the homicides in this country. Black males account for about 6% of the population. Young black males account for even less. So we've got a real problem that less than 5% of the population are responsible for most of the homicides. Know what that means? There are some really dangerous dudes out there. Police are dealing with some awfully violent people so we don't have to. Sometimes these things end badly.

The numbers do NOT support a statement that "blacks (and latinos, remember them?) are killed by police at a disproportionate rate than whites."

Need more proof:

The latest in a series of studies undercutting the claim of systemic police bias was published in August 2019 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The researchers found that the more frequently officers encounter violent suspects from any given racial group, the greater the chance that a member of that group will be fatally shot by a police officer. There is “no significant evidence of antiblack disparity in the likelihood of being fatally shot by police,” they concluded.
Officer characteristics and racial disparities in fatal officer-involved shootings

A 2015 Justice Department analysis of the Philadelphia Police Department found that white police officers were less likely than black or Hispanic officers to shoot unarmed black suspects. Research by Harvard economist Roland G. Fryer Jr. also found no evidence of racial discrimination in shootings. Any evidence to the contrary fails to take into account crime rates and civilian behavior before and during interactions with police.

This isn't necessarily Sea Ray's opinion. I'm posting facts through statistics and studies.

Defund or in any way lessen the police? It'll hurt minority communities more than any other. It'll cost black lives

The false narrative of systemic police bias resulted in targeted killings of officers during the Obama presidency. The pattern may be repeating itself. Officers are being assaulted and shot at while they try to arrest gun suspects or respond to the growing riots. Police precincts and courthouses have been destroyed with impunity, which will encourage more civilization-destroying violence. If the Ferguson effect of officers backing off law enforcement in minority neighborhoods is reborn as the Minneapolis effect, the thousands of law-abiding African-Americans who depend on the police for basic safety will once again be the victims.

Lol at the dude busting the cops window then falling down in front of the car . Also gotta love the hit and run skateboard kids , they are always good for one hit before they book it out of there . If I was a cop those kids with the skateboards is who I’d punch first .

really? You would punch a kid ?

really? You would punch a kid ?

I’ll punch anyone that puts hands on me . If you are an adult then you should know better , if you are a young man ( teenager ) I’ll teach you better . You must of mistaken me for someone that can be shamed or will allow a person holding a skateboard to bash my skull in .

They pick people they know won't react. They are cowards.

That and the fact that they sucker punch your head , not a lot you can do and they know it . You walk you with short and tank with tennis shoes on to hit a guy dressed in socks a button down and slick shoes in the back of the head . That’s really impressive .

I’m sick of these racist white people

It’s an everyday occurrence that nobody wants to address. People like this pos are a dime a dozen. If he assaulted a cop like that and was shot dead just imagine what would happen. He’d be a father of the year career criminal that was about to turn his life around. I’m sure there’s a few on here that enjoyed watching it.
