I noticed some of the tackling was horrid at times, i think this being the first game players were used to maybe not hitting each other super hard in practice to avoid injuries to one another which is smart on their part, but it looks like it has affected their game day tackling maybe hopefully it will be alot better vs wku. GO VOLS!!!

I can think of one instance of poor tackling on a kickoff return. Other than that it seemed fine.

agreed . At the very least this was a huge improvement over the last 3 years .

The first half stats speak for themselves ...then the 2nd and 3rd came in . That 1st have was probably the most flawless football half played by the vols in many many years.

The Vols played an almost perfect game and you people are nitpicking this game to death. Relax and enjoy the win. Don't start griping until there is something legitimate to be upset about.

Solid win Butch. The Vegas odds would be much different on the WKU game if more people would have seen the game. This is one instance where a 45-0 game wasn't near as close as the score because Butch Jones is a class act.

I think it was more just being the smart thing to do to get everyone useful reps but I agree the spread should be more...spread.

It appears you only paid attention to one kickoff return. Can you point out some other times tackling was poor? I thought they did a pretty good job - much better than previous years.

Google "Joe Adams" if you want to see some HORRID missed tackles from an undisciplined Team, OP...

I need a drink just thinking about it...

surely you're not implying that this defence is an improvement over the great Sal Sunseri's!!!

You are 100% correct sir! Some of these Vol fans would not be happy if we would have won 100-0. These same people act like WKU won the NC last year and BP is the greatest coach in college football, good grief!

When are some people going to back CBJ instead of complaining all the time? We will not have a perfect season but, for the first time in about eight years, I see a football team that is focused and coaches who appear to know what they are doing. Come on Vol fans let's be positive as it has been a long dry spell. GBO!!!!

Beg to differ. If you watch closely, you will see repeated incidents of ball carriers slipping out of the grasp of tacklers. Basically, our guys not wrapping up the APSU player. The first player would let the guy slip and he'd get tackled by the 2nd or 3rd guy. This was especially true in many one on one tackles.

I think I had a better chance of tackling him that night. I was on the 50 about row 4 and on that side of the field. That was literally right in front of us.

AP had about 75 yards of offense in the first half. How bad could the tackling have possibly been?

Other then the return everyone has mentioned I can only think of one missed tackle...when Brewer missed a TFL. But thats it!

This is what happens when we've had years of horrid football play. We're shacking in our boots looking for any sign that we will continue in this mediocrity. We seen bad tackling so much that now we see it when it's not really there. Sure there were a few instances of missed tackles but not any more then to be expected for a normal first game.

Look at the game again. Count the times the first UT tackler let an APSU carrier slip out of his hands. Yes, often the player got tackled by either the next Vol or swarmed, but if those slip throughs happen with Oregon or WKU, our goose will be cooked because we'll be dealing with much faster players.

Shacking? Is that a cross between Shaking and Shatting? Not sure I'll be partaking in any Shacking of my boots. :)
