All the counterpoints make sense but all assume one critical outcome: the early shot will be missed. Given the LV's shooting woes, I can appreciate the pessimistic outlook. But if a team hits the quick shot, then they can immediately press the opponent who has to in bound the ball. It goes without saying that you don't want Mercedes jacking on a 15 footer, 8 seconds into the shot clock. But, the situations I am referring to where Diamond, Nared, and Jordan I believe taking open mid range shots. In other words, those were actually good possessions for the LVs because they got their shooters open looks. Yes, in these possessions they missed shots (hence the announcers comments) but the problem was missing not the timing. And lets note, the LVs also made some shots early in the shot clock (when the ball goes in, we hear of course, that is what we need, she took the shot in the flow of the game; she got her shoulders squared; or just, Diamond has nice looking shot).
So again, my critique is more about announcers who feel the need to "explain" why a shot is not made, as though it comes down to an execution error of not passing the ball enough and of course, complain when a team commits a turnover or looses possession, that such and such players should not pass on an open opportunity and should play with more confidence. So, this is just not about LV games per se but the announcer-speak.
