I don’t need to know where your brother was, but based on the places I was, the austere and expeditionary locations absolutely could be closed in a matter of a single week with everything pulled out. I know all the big FOBs, outside of Bagram, were closed in the months leading up to July, with plenty of time to complete the pack-up.

The last remnants of our footprint and the very last ones to leave was always going to be done quickly and on the fly. But I guarantee (because I actually worked it from the states) that SOP was absolutely followed and ample time was given for the larger locations to close shop. The embassy obviously being the last one.

We have special ops in the area. Brothers friend says guys he served with are not responding to him right now. Says they only do that when they are off the radar (deployed). Can't imagine where else they'd be right now.

I’m going by my first hand account and actual involvement in pulling equipment and people out. You can think what you want.

Not sure of the type, but typically for operations in Afghanistan the ground support aircraft have been F-16’s, at least in the tail end of the conflict.

All I know is what I did and saw with my own eyes - over the last 6 months with the drawdown. The picture being painted in the press and the embarrassing drama and exaggerations in this thread doesn’t jive.

This pullout has been happening over the last 12 months, period. It started under Trump. We tripped and fell flat on our face trying to cross the finish line. The story being portrayed by sensationalist headlines and drama queens is that it was done all at once and we dropped the ball and missed things everywhere.

Biden screwed up - absolutely. Things could have and should have been done different. But this is the last 2 minutes of a 4 quarter game and we are trying to finish it but keep shooting ourselves in the foot.

I sincerely hope your brother is safe and gets out ok.

2 minutes of a 4 qtr game. Catchy, but more like 15 minute stretches of Penn State bowl games, or the Peyton M. Florida game where we were rolling then the bottom feel out from nowhere.

Only with the Handsome Jo administration everything has stayed in the basement.

Could you please tell us what they are? They go door to door killing anyone who disagrees with their doctrine or has provided assistance to the US, including elected women, over throwing their duly elected government.
