Talked to Coach Thigpen about Von/Ethan injuries

Ethan is our best TE, by far. Downs, Alex ?, and Helm are good backups, situational player, but Ethan is your every down TE; he can block, catch, do everything that you need. He is more important, to have back right now.

Of course we want Pearson back ASAP, but North, Pig, Smith and Croom, with Malone developing and we are gonna be fine. Actually may be good to get Croom and Malone some more touches. We just need him back in a few weeks, and healthy.

Pearson is a young, healthy, determined young man, plus he doesn't weight too much. These sprains are much worse for the big guys.

I actually think losing Pearson for a stint will hurt. Our passing game is our strength, and we need his speed and athleticism. We can't afford to lose any speed and athleticism in the passing game given that we could struggle running the ball in the weeks ahead.

Saw coach thigpen at the Crowne plaza hotel and asked about Von and Ethan. He said "Ethan is fine. He should be okay." And said "Von is definitely the worse of the two. High ankle injury so usually a minimum of 3 weeks for these sort of things."

TIFWIW

:good!:

Von has been great but everybody around me at the game thought he should have scored on that long catch. Charge to the end zone do not cut it back...he has the speed.

josh smith has looked better thid year too.

May have been hard to see, but he would have scored had it not been for the blatant, uncalled jersey holding by the ASU DB.

Both players are huge losses if they can't play against OU. However, I am more concerned about our O line than anything. Based on what I have seen from them the first 2 games, we'll be lucky to win 3 SEC games.

That's all we need!

#25 Made some nice plays today, catch on the side line was a thing of beauty... and he also has more hops then i realized!

Certainly reversed the notion that the human male of lighter skin pigmentation, can jump

Pearson has come on so strong since arriving, I wondered if he might become a one-and-done with a breakout initial season. I certainly wish him all the financial security he can earn.

But if a high ankle sprain this year brings him back to Tennessee next year... great for Vol fans, and maybe in the end it will be worth more $$$ for him.

Lord knows this young man has dealt with disappointment before. Everything I read says he's been a great character model to have around the program. Get well soon and completely, Von!

Hope THIS good news is fact! Have trouble considering an assistant coach would give such information in such a casual manner before his boss, MRI or further examinations. Still, I hope it is correct.

Did you see Ohio State's O line play last night? Yeah...they lost and was Va Tech but I'd take our decent pass protection any day over theirs. You may be right about our W's, but I'm gonna wait and assess AFTER OU. These guys are growing and gaining more real game experience every week against not-to-shabby competition. They may be OK.

Croom has quietly had a solid season too. Loads of potential there.

I think he would have already contributed more, but he must be a little banged up...has consistently been in a green limited contact practice jersey since 2nd week of camp.

Croom is playing well, but I wish he would be more aggressive and run over and through db's that he out weighs by 70lbs. That being said Josh Smith is a better football player than croom.

We win 3 SEC games that would give us 6 wins and a bowl game - personally I think we win 7, but will be happy just to get a bowl game this year.

100% agree. I was skeptical because he was a tire fire as a freshman, but everything they said about him in the offseason looks to be true. He's been outstanding thus far.

Josh looks to be very athletic. Saw him hurdle a defender yesterday. Pearson hurts, but WR is one position we have depth.

Josh is a true sophomore...recruiting class of 2013

EDIT: nevermind - just realized you meant this year. Not third year. :)
