Martin said because of his effort on defense and in practice.

Cameron Tatum wants to leave positive legacy » GoVolsXtra

sadly enough i understand where CCM is coming from with this. he preaches proving yourself in practice with defense, and getting in the gym if your shot aint falling and even if it is. according to ccm and this article tatum bust it more than most players in practice, and has been spending time in the gym trying to get out of this slump. i think itd be easier to move tatum out of the spot if someone was behind him that really brought something, but mcrae had 1 game and has dissapeared again.

When CM starts getting pressure to win more games, he'll go with the players that will win games for him over the ones that practice the hardest. He's trying to put forth an early message in hopes that the more talented players in the future won't want to sit and watch guys play because they practice harder.

Sacrificing today for tomorrow, imo. It has to be frustrating him, but I can't really fault the plan.

agree 100%. it kind of helps this year though that there isnt anyone that youd start over tatum thatd help you win games. as you said though, i think he's hoping the message is being sent to players on the roster and players he is recruiting that you better come in ready to work.

This is really frustrating. All I can say, is he better not come out jacking up horrible 3's and looking like this is stoned.

And the fact the other two guys are a limited Skylar McBee and a very inconsistent Jordan McRae.

You could make the argument however that over the past 5+ games that McRae has been more consistent than Tatum has... Well actually if you want to take into consideration of Tatum being very consistent of not scoring and jacking up 3's then it would be hard to argue.

I think the difference is defense, and tatum is spending extra time in the gym, apparently McRae is not.

McRae has been consistent in taking bad shots and making poor decisions with the basketball all year. He just happens to have had those bad shots fall a couple games, doesn't change the fact they were bad shots.

Neither of these guys have what it takes mentally, but I am pretty shocked how so many people can be endorsing Jordan when half the time he touches the ball he takes it across half court...never passes and then shoots an nba three that bounces off the back iron

I'm all about doing great in practice, but at some point if it doesn't start translating to output during in game time, then you have to look to make a change.

I'm not saying he's done great in practice he is showing more effort and probably better defense than McRae I'd say. And as I said the fact tatum is spending the extra time in the gym an McRae is content with his game that also says something to the coach.

You obviously ventured over from the football forum and have watched 1 or 2 games this year...
Well he's like 1-50 in his last 5 sec games, that's really not over reacting. Obviously not everyone will be a lofton or king no crap, but asking the guy to shoot the ball at a half way decent % isn't asking too much, especially from a 5th year senior.

What's up with the knock on McBee? He's been playing better than a lot of other guys. He's improving every game on defense as well.

Richardson has pretty much done nothing as of late. McBee is playing quite a bit better than him for sure. McBee's minutes have went up because of this as well.

We never know what we're gonna get out of Tatum. Heck, he's even been lacking on defense lately. If he's not hitting his 3's well he's pretty bad!

If mcbee could play the 3 he'd play there our only options really are tatum and mcbee.

I don't know how many have notices but Richardson decrease in minutes is directly reflected by tatums decrease in offense. Richardson brings 0 offense this is known, but he plays great D, when tatum is scoring 0 as well the 2 and 3 provide absolutely no offense thus making it incredibly difficult for trae, jarnell and jeronne to be effective. Mcbee is out there more now because he is more of an offensive threat than Richardson. Sucks for Richardson that he's losing minutes because tatum Is sucking it up, but hopefully that'll motivate him to improve his offense. With that said skylar has done a nice job.

I also think Tatum is an underachiever. Cant seem to understand he cant drive the ball to the basket without getting it blocked. I cant spell it but he's lacsidasical ( least I tried). but tonight he has a good scoring game I predict.. probably 14 points.. call me out if Im wrong..

I could see this, maybe not 14 but I expect him to play better for atleast this game.
