Most sprains , returning to action, depend on the athletes ability to respond to treatment. Some do not respond well to the modalities that will be used. Swelling in the area is the greatest issue, being able to return full range of motion is what will be the deciding factor as to his return. I have milked many a swollen ankle and speak from first hand experience.

Coach Jones says Tatum will not be available against Vanderbilt.

But he did say that the ankle is getting better. It doesn't sound like they have ruled out him playing against Kentucky.

Tatum wasn’t expected to travel with the 12th-ranked Vols to Nashville on Monday night but might still join them on Tuesday before they face 22nd-ranked Vanderbilt.

Coach Bruce Pearl says the redshirt sophomore had some additional swelling in his foot and planned to get an MRI and more treatment.
