Wasn't going to be the starter, unless Mac Jones goes down to injury. Bama fans are sold on Jones, and a more conservative offensive game plan, that complements their defensive style. Old style, ground and pound, Bama offense, suits Saban's comfort zone.

Well, Tennessee was once high on his crootin list. And Tennessee tried hard to get him.

Honestly, how does he size up to Bailey? Not quite as good would be my guess.

Miami would be an easier place to be a starter.

Tee Martin did a zoom chat today with Vol Fans in Atlanta and said a QB from a high profile school is entering the portal today and we are going after him

Miami has 3 guys that are / should be better than Taulia...Houston transfer King, Martell, and Perry...ok maybe one of those is better, but he would still be fighting for a starting spot.

King is, maybe Perry. Martell is horrible.

I can see this happening.
I LOVE Maurer and totally respect and support what he's fighting through right now, but with all that and the concussion concerns does he ever really start again at UT?

Kasim Hill and Guarantano are non-factors in the discussion because unless the NCAA gets off it's dead arse, Taulia isn't playing until 2021.

So that leaves Bailey and whomever gets recruited between now and then... we'll assume that whomever gets recruited is for the future beyond 2021, 2022...it would be a hell of an arms race and a great spot for this staff to be in with Bailey and Taulia in spring camp.

Anybody but JG is an upgrade at QB. Hard fast bullet passes from 3 yards away to an open rec is hard to handle.

I guess Tuscaloosa is better than Starkville but that's like deciding whether the Silent Sneaker fart is better than the Choking Cheek Flapper.

It really comes down to what style offense you are going to play. Tua is a read option QB, and can be a bit of a dual threat. But, don't kid yourself, he can make all of the throws.
HB is more of a pro-style QB. But, he can run a read-option offense. Just not as much of a threat, running the ball. He has great pocket presence, and moves just enough, to get into throwing lanes, and buy time.
