Lot of chatter this morning that TCU has gotten an offer from the Big XII, and will likely accept. Via Twitter:

kbohls:
Big 12 presidents and chancellors have voted to invite TCU to join the league, should be finalized over next several days.

TCU must pay the $5 million exit fee, but isn't bound by the 27-month waiting period like Cuse and Pitt.

TCU completes a full circle going back 16 years when it was cut out of Big 12.

Might be time to read the Big East its last rites.

Big East still has 14 basketball schools or something like that, if they lose a couple more football teams it'll be done.

They will also add BYU, WVU, and Lou after Missou comes to SEC.

The 5 major BCS Conf will be ACC(14), SEC(14), Big 10(12), Pac 12(12), Big 12(12)

Don't be surprised if UConn and Rutgers or ND end up in ACC soon too.

Their best play may be to scrap football altogether, and try to maintain a basketball-only league. Marquette, DePaul, St. John's, Providence, Seton Hall, Georgetown, etc...wouldn't be too bad of a league, although it definitely loses some luster.

This is also a doomsday scenario for schools like Cincinnati and South Florida. Both had made big strides in football recently...and both are about to get kicked to the curb. At least Louisville, WVU, UConn, and Rutgers may be ACC or Big XII bound.

Why wouldn't Rutgers and Notre Dame go to the Big 10 over the ACC?

I think the Big 10 will go to 14 before the ACC goes to 16 and they've been interested in both ND and Rutgers.

Who is going to add BYU, West Va and Louisville? The Big East or Big XII?

Good for TCU, glad to see them finally get into the B12. Best scenario would be the B12 now kicking Baylor to the Big East, lol

Was Tcu one of those schools that Baylor tried to go out of its way to keep out of the big 12 initially?

The Aggie fans can explain this better than me...but I think the short answer is yes. Ann Richards (TX governor at the time) was a Baylor alum and used her influence to get Baylor in ahead of TCU, SMU, Houston, and Rice.

You could make the argument that both TCU and Houston have had better programs over that timeframe than Baylor has.

Yes, I think I remember hearing that - were the ACC option still there - they'd take that route over a big 10 one following a big east collapse

Speaking of Baylor, I went to the KU-Baylor basketball game in Waco last year and a Baylor fan tried to pick a fight with my 5 foot 2 inch wife (KU fan). I was going to step in but my wife took care of business. Didn't come in contact with many Baylor fans I would care about. Baylor is nothing but a 7A high school anyway...

TCU and BYU to the Big 12 make sense; Louisville and WVU not so much to me.

I think the Big East in football will survive but it will be a shell of what was already a weak lineup. They'll probably go after teams like Central Florida, and Villanova is supposed to be moving up to FBS and be a team. Temple is rumored to be invited back as well. So, I can see it surviving but I can't see it keeping a BCS bid.

A handful of other Twitter nuggets...this TCU movement could be a pretty big domino in the conf. realignment game:

kbohls
Big 12 is not considering any other Texas schools.

kbohls
Missouri was not in on voting to invite TCU, Big 12 says. Abstained on advice of legal counsel.

Keep in mind that TCU to the Big 12 has implications for Notre Dame if the Big East is no longer viable for their Olympic sports.

Your first mistake was going to Waco. Your second was attending a Baylor basketball game.

Notre Dame will never join the ACC :eek:lol: Or any other conference for that matter...They would lose millions and would not be willing to share those millions with other ACC teams.

I'd say UConn is probably headed to the ACC.

BE already has contacted Navy and Air Force; might as well go after Army too.

Doesn't make sense to add Air Force...They are located in Colorado...That's some serious traveling to away games
