TCU to BE done deal?

I thought they would join the Big 12 too, as well as another team. Away games are going to be rough on the fans.

How does this suck for BSU? One non-AQ that finishes in the Top12 every year gets an automatic bid to a BCS game. Over the last few years that has pretty much been fought over by TCU, Utah, and BSU. With TCU and Utah in AQ conferences that leaves BSU as the favorite to get non-AQ auto bid every year.

As for TCU having to travel to the East Coast- Fort Worth to Boise and Fort Worth to Fresno are both longer trips than their longest Big East travel opponent.

I bet the guy who will be in charge of scheduling for a 17 or 18 team basketball league is loving this.

Good move by TCU. They will own in football.

Good move by Big East too. Adds some legitamcy to their standing in the football world.

Big East now needs to clean house some and make the league about 12-14 schools that are all inclusive. Get out of the mid-major deal of having schools only in certain sports. All in or nothing.

Yeah, getting rid of St. John's, Georgetown, and Marquette would be a brilliant move by the Big East. The A-10 is praying they are that stupid.

I realize its easier said than done. I personnally just have a hard time taking any conference serious that operates that way. Plus it just seems to me to be easier to manage.

Any school that they might want to keep, the could have them pull a Vandy, field a team, but make no commitment to actually doing anything with it. Lol.

This is definitely a good move on the part of both TCU and the Big East, but I think it's funny that a team in Texas is gonna be in the Big East.

I've not looked at a map of either conference but my gut tells me that the average road game will be farther away.

Are you averaging in Hawaii every other year?

Probably not. Heck I don't even know who is in that conference. But my general point (which may still be valid) is that having a conference with a couple distant outliers may be better than being in a conference where the majority of schools are 1,000+ miles away.

Like in the ACC, it's a long trip for UNC to go to BC or FSU, but most of the other schools are relatively close.

yeah but Dallas is owned by a gazillionair that doesn't care about spending money on traveling..While TCU's fencing teams will now have to travel to Syracuse.

All the other sports combined don't even compare to football for TCU.

They don't care about that one bit.

Besides, right now the average travel distance for TCU in the MWC is still over 1000 mi, so not much changed.

wont happen. I agree for football its makes sense but big east loves its basketball so they wont get rid of those schools

sucks for the school's traveling costs too, especially for everything that isn't football
Travel cost should be cheaper having D/FW Int Airport in their back yard plus this

One thing that came up yesterday in the press conference was that the individual sports like golf, tennis, swimming etc won't have to travel to conference opponents for meets. They will only have to compete in the conference tournament at the end of the season. So, they can compete in regional events nearer to TCU throughout the season and then just go the conference tourney at the end. This is different than the MWC since the MWC required TCU to go to swim meets in Laramie, Wy for example. So, this negates at least some of the travel issues. Many more flights from D/FW to the East Coast than to places like Salt Lake City, Laramie, Albequrque.
