It's not possible that all of these players will play a significant amount of time. When you #3 on the depth chart at your position, you're not going to get into the game very often.
PG- Carter, Middleton, Cooper
SG- Reynolds, Tucker, Jackson
C- Russell, Moore
PF- Graves, Jones, Dunbar
Wing- DeShields, Nared
With Holly's penchant of playing upperclassman, I suspect that Diamond will be the only one of the newcomers to get more than 20 minutes a game. This year our starters are averaging about 27 minutes a game. Cooper might be in the 15-20 minute range if we use Middleton as the backup 2 guard.
This year's minutes played for the players who are coming back and probably starting next year.
Carter 28.8
Graves 27.9
Reynolds 23.4
DeShields
Russell
Fill in you own numbers for Diamond and Mercedes. I suspect about 30 and 25 respectively.
Looking at the roster it becomes apparent that while DD is the most talented player, Russell will be the player that season hinges on. If she can't play very much or is not effective when she does, we will be at a severe disadvantage in games played against other top teams with strong front courts.

We will have three PGs next year--Cooper, Reynolds and Middleton. One of them is not going to get much playing time.

RE Jackson, sounds like a good athlete and defender, but is yet another player who doesn't sound like a scorer. We need another scorer. I have a feeling we'll see UT players next year standing around a lot and watching DeShields go one on one, with two defenders draped on her.

Good point, excpet Middleton is a 2-guard. Track her minutes played this year and see how many of them are at 2-guard compared to the point.

Massengale never developed physically like Cooper. Cooper will probably be the strongest player on the team she has really developed her body and can play physical driving the ball. Massengale is a good shooter could never get to the basket and finish like Cooper will be able to do from her first season here.
As far as starting might not happen but I expect it will be hard for Holly to take her off the floor for very long once she gets in the game.

Reynolds is not a shooting guard. Point guard all the way. Middleton could be a PG but her role is going to be more of SG with Coop coming in and Reynolds only a sophomore, coaches to focus producing middleton at the 2.

PG- Cooper/Reynolds (*Carter and Middleton can obviously give minutes here if something comes up)
G- Carter/Middleton/Tucker
G- Deshields/Jones/Nared
F- Graves/Jones/Nared/Dunbar
P- Russell/Moore/Graves

With that starting 5, if I was Holly, I would have some discussions with Tyndall about implementing at least some of the match-up 2-3 zone. Russell in the middle. Graves and Deshields in the back. Cooper and Carter pestering ball handlers coming up the court.

Meme has the tools to be a great glue player. Similar size, strength, athleticism, and hustle to Hornbuckle. Maybe not quite the passer she was though.

Te'a Cooper "She Got That Work" Senior Mixtape! - YouTube

Some clips of Tea! IMO...obvious upgrade from Ariel...I've seen 3 of Tea's games this season, like one poster said, its going to be hard for Holly to keep her off the floor once she's in. I'm not declaring her the "SAVIOR" let me make that clear....other posters act like we can't get excited about new blood too the team, and how they can contribute! Tea will be very good and move up in the rankings for her recruiting class based off her numbers! She fell on the ESPN Hoopgurlz site a little after she committed to Tenn...I see why Holly went all out for her once she decommited!

And Jackson will be a glue player...watching this girl play its obvious she's not a scorer! She does everything else so well....especially rebound out of the guard position which can only help this team! Passes well and also can DEFEND!

Great clip. Te'a she has excellent quickness, nice ball handling skills and a level of explosiveness that would be a real asset.

More often than not, freshman who can make an impact come in with a high level of quickness and athleticism. We saw that last year with our very own Jordan Reynolds. She looks to be solidly built as well so the physicality of the SEC should be something she can handle. I am excited see her play next year. She should contribute.

Let's keep in mind that Ariel looked scarily good in HS as well. CPS did not anoint her as starting PG for no reason.

It is one thing to blow by high school players who are not division caliber and its another to have that kind of impact at the D1 level. I think Carter, Reynolds, Middleton barring injuries (and perhaps Tucker) will be the anchors at the guard position. And then Te'a will work her way into the rotation, which is pretty ideal situation for a freshman anyway. Next year, the LVs are probably going to live and die by their guards.
