In contrast to what some (VolInMn... cough, cough) may think, "Tea party supporters are wealthier and more well-educated than the general public..."

I haven't been involved, nor really given much thought about the Tea Party... but based on the information provided in this article I have to admit I may be one!

Similarities to general public
"In some ways, Tea Party supporters look like the general public. For instance, despite their allusions to Revolutionary War-era tax protesters, most describe the amount they paid in taxes this year as “fair.” Most send their children to public schools, do not think Sarah Palin is qualified to be president, and, despite their push for smaller government, think that Social Security and Medicare are worth the cost. They are actually more likely than the general public to have returned their census forms, despite some conservative leaders urging a boycott."

I guess that explains why they can afford to take off so much work to attend multi-city rallies to listen to Caribou Barbie and Pals.

Weird. I thought all Tea Party members were racist, inbred, toothless hillbillies.

Naw, they're just hypocritical..... They're sick of government they say.. They say there's no party alliance, yet when bush was doubling the national government, where were the tea parties???

So now, it's not ok to expand government?? Hmmmmm, wonder why, lol:p

This is such a shallow argument. No wonder it is the most frequently repeated one.

seems to me that those paying almost no income taxes do very little griping about taxes, unless it's about someone else paying to little.

If people don't understand the BIG problem with the economic problems taxing the very wealthy can cause in this current day's economy, then they don't understand what exactly is discussed in a share holder's meeting in this day and age. If the company isn't making enough money, because of having to pay too many taxes, they cut spending to make stockholder's happy. Unfortunately, they usually cut what they consider dead weight at the bottom.

What I don't understand about the whole discussion is, Bush cut taxes for the wealthy... We should have been overflowing with jobs by the time his tenure as president was complete. Yet, here we are, which started under his watch.
