Tea Party revolt within the GOP

Well, at least you can't say that he's a "party" man/politician.

I commend him for having a backbone and standing firm on his believes; however insane they might seem to me.

I wish more politicians would have backbone and actually stand for something.

I don't think there is a huge risk hereto the GOP of a splintering of their party into some form of fiscal conservatives and values conservatives, but there is at least some risk of it. People like this guy, Sarah Palin, Bachmann, and some others, seem more than happy to push the divide a bit.

Palin not being invited to speak at the convention is a significant sign of that.

this guy was pushed by the Dems. Simple politics and not some evidence of a bigger problem.

One guy counts as a revolt? Lee harvey oswald must be considered one of the greatest revolutionaries in history.

I always hold out hope that half the GOP will abruptly switch to Libertarian. That would be the best thing ever to happen to this political system. It would force a huge change in the way our country operates politically.

Put to your specific point, that won't happen. Republicans have become increasingly more conservative on the social front despite independents, moderates, and Libertarians becoming more liberal on social issues. Doesn't make any sense to me.

They how are these republicans getting elected if the country is turning more socially liberal?

Haven't seen any evidence of tea party revolt at any of the local events I've attended or seen in Tennessee or Virginia.

You'd think if there was a revolt it would be a little more widespread, no?

The part of the TP that places value on social issues.

It's one guy and I haven't even seen anything suggesting the TPrs that voted for him in the primaries are revolting against the GOP.

Hell even Palin who is TP darling for some reason thinks he should drop out and/or a 3rd party person could/should win it.

Have you not seen the competing commentary of those in the party asking him to get out, including Romney, versus footage of crazed mouthbreathers championing the attack on that there science stuff?

Haven't seen a split like this since the Cantor wing of the House told Boehner to go f himself on the budget deal.

I've seen a very small handful of instances of "competing commentary", but saying there is a revolt is an incredible stretching of the truth.
