Team headed to Italy this Summer

Be interesting to see…wouldn’t shock me if it’s Santi, Mashack, JJJ, Tobe & Aidoo.

If my memory is correct, Barnes played a lot of freshmen last time around. Maybe he started the old guard, but I recall that some young guys showed out, then disappeared when they got back stateside.

Dillione, Santi, Shack, Awaka, Aidoo for game one. I can see Knecht and JJJ find their way into the starting lineup the second or third game.

If we go thru all this only to have Santi starting at PG again, I'll be beside myself.
I’m not saying I think that’s how the season plays out, I could just see game 1 of the tour going that way…could also see 5 walk On’s starting, could also see a different 5 each game, nothing would shock me, I don’t think there’s much to be taken from it.

I'm hoping Barnes opens the bench up and gives all the healthy scholarship players some playtime. I'm interested in seeing what the new players have to offer. It stinks that about every year we have a redshirt, and you have no idea what they bring because they can't even play meaningless minutes.

But it would be awesome if DJ and Freddie were eventually 5th year seniors.

The better option is the NCAA allowing kids to play 5-8 games in a season and not burn their redshirt.

I’m not really a fan of all the playing around with eligibility math. Last year nobody on the board really knew what was going on with BJ Edwards.

PG- Dillone
SG- Knecht
SF- Mashack
PF- Awaka
C- Aidoo

I think Vescovi and James come off the bench on this trip.

I’m kinda split on what I’d do. On one hand I’d be inclined to play the 5th year guys very limited minutes.

On the other, you want the teams to get reps in lineups that will happen in the regular season.

We’ll see what happens

I’d adjust the lineup based on the competition. If it’s a really good opponent then work on combinations with the key contributors. If the opponent isn’t very good then get some experience for the guys not expected to have much court time this coming year.

Fwiw Ramey thinks it’s either small ball:

Dilione, Santi, Knecht, James, Aidoo

Or bigger lineup:

Dilione, Santi, James, Awaka, Aidoo

I like it as well…I wouldn’t have read much into any lineup either way which is why I said what I did, thought maybe Rick would go experience/veteran heavy, but I like the idea of giving Dilione as much as he can handle at the 1 to start things off.
Exactly. There's no reason not to let him drink thru a fire hose at this point. He needs all the live reps he can get at PG if he's the answer to fill in for ZZ.
