Team Peterman

HEYYYYYYYYY HOOOOOOOOOOO, here we go again, only on VolNation.....stay tuned, some of these posts and comments are really funny and entertaining.
Mike Wegzyn is really who everyone wants at QB, but don't tell anyone.

Laugh away...your probably one of the guys who contributed to all those "RF is going to dominate because he has tatts" threads".

Wasn't NP hand injured in the Swamp? Or is Worley exempt and Peterman not?

Yea he tore the ligament in his thumb on his throwing hand. And it happened in the first quarter - before that stupid "trick" play where the oline stands still. You can see on the play he got hurt he smacked the top of the dline's helmet on follow through. Similar to what happened to Bray. Similar to what happened to Worley late in last season. Kind of important for a qb to be able to use his thumb on his throwing hand.

He was 4/11 that day but even with a hurt thumb he was hitting receivers early that game in the chest and they were dropped. Again, its a team sport. Players and also play calls all factor in to relfect a qb's play. Don't count Peterman out after one half of football. And don't count out the growth of a player year over year.

I think bUTch wants to start Worley , and RS Dobbs . The fact that Worley can not separate himself is not good for his prospects IMO . I wouldn't be surprised to see Peterman be named the starter . It really bothers me that some posters dismiss the guy because of one bad game in which he had a broken thumb . I have no problem with giving him another shot

easy, everyone needs a sense of humor, By the way, I'm not a poster that has ever said the Vols have a true SEC QB on the present roster, I wish I could say we have a great signal caller hidden in the mix.

Agree, and have not counted anyone of the QB's out....most of all NP, whom we have seen play the least of the three.:)

Remember, Peterman is the ONLY Rivals.com 4* Quarterback on on our roster (this year or last year). Maybe that means something, or maybe it doesn't.

He sure didn't have a 4* offer list. McKenzie is only a 4* on Rivals if that tells you anything. Maybe there was something about Peterman that made all other major D1 schools steer clear of him. I mean Worley had a MUCH better offer list and was only a 3* on Rivals.

:dunno:

Yea Peterman's offer list was affected by the fact that he changed his throwing motion his junior year (for the better) but made him a dark horse - he was flying under the radar. The only reason UT offered was because he showed up to one of their camps and blew them away.

And add in the fact that he played in the second half of only TWO of his games his senior year so his stats weren't super padded. Even so he was top 10 qb of his class and Florida offensive player of the year.

With a broke thumb👌

Unless he went into the game with a broken thumb then this means virtually nothing. It wasn't just his awful throwing, it was his lack of poise. The moment was entirely too big for him. Besides, the evidence suggests that his thumb didn't come into play/wasn't injured until late in the 2nd qtrr when that one ball completely fluttered out of his hand. By then the story was already written, the dye already cast.

The worst half of QB play in the history of Tennessee, hell college football, didn't mean anything? Head coach has to trust his QB. Nathan could look like Dan Marino the rest of fall camp, but do you really believe Butch and Bajakian wouldn't have plenty of doubt about what they'd get from Peterman in a real game based on that performance last year?

Well if Worley can improve and not throw into the dirt as much, maybe learn not to throw into triple coverage and go through progressions.....then maybe Peterman can improve as well, right?
Maybe Peterman will get a chance to show improvement in a game not so big as in the Swamp.
I trust experience foremost, so there is plenty of upside with Worley. On the other hand, I don't believe that, doubt coaches have, can't be overcome by a strong game performance by Peterman....or even a couple good series in a qtr.

Anything is possible. But not everything is probable. I'm honestly not trying to knock Peterman... I admire the kid for hanging in there and showing great character with his work ethic and perseverance. But I'm interested in the truth and remembering what happened last year. That performance left a mark and I'm not sure if Nathan (or any QB) can overcome it.

Oh yeah, he is a non contact jersey wearing warrior. Do you need to review the Florida film from last year?

@John_BriceVQ: Prepping for interviews @Neyland_Stadium Hearing Peterman was solid, and RBs all looked good. http://t.co/YaVZR0elkZ

@Vol_Football: JONES: Nathan Peterman took some important steps forward. Justin Worley continues to get better.

This. You also left out that it was his first start, on the road, at the swamp. Also, he injured his finger. I'd like to see how many other QB's would perform better after such a shaky start. I mean, sometimes it's difficult for me to bounce back when I'm playing NCAA. I couldn't imagine real life.

You know he could have walked over and told a coach that his finger was injured, and his play may be negatively affected. That could have helped the coaches make a better decision for the team rather than watching the disaster get worse, then learning the reason why.

Hiding that injury is the height of "I" rather than team if you ask me. It ain't toughness, its selfish stupidity if he hid a performance affecting injury.

Thot I would mention this since the "Broken finger" excuse is now center stage around here. Peterman didn't look good before or after that injury actually. He was deer in the headlights. Just an ugly ugly experiment by Butch that day. An average Worley game could have given us a win, since UF tried its best to give it to us.

All that said, if NP gives us the best chance to win, then I'm behind him 100%. We need someone to lead.

He actually hit Josh smith in the number's twice and he dropped it both times and Went deep with single coverage on North and it got batted down then the injury occured.
