Has been updated. Vols have the No. 16 most talented team (up 3 spots from last year). Bama is No. 1 again, UGA No. 2. Last year we outperformed our rank considerably, which I think was about the first time we had outperformed our rank in the 8 or 9 year history of the rankings. Can we do it again?

Interesting we are the same as last year. I would have expected to be a tick higher

Also note the bluechips.

Up to 35. Only 26 last year.

From 32% bluechips to 41% (not to be confused with the bluechip ratio (BCR) which has a different calculation - of which we are now likely to get over 50% by next year and FINALLY join the BCR club for the first time).

The best thing Tennessee has going for it right now is that we have a coaching staff that has proven it can develop players. The talent level of this squad is much higher now after working with the Tennessee coaching staff. I can't wait for this season. Go Vols!

Agree with @unfrozencvmanvol last year was the first time we've really outperformed our expectations or talent. We FINALLY have a coach that does more with less, what we needed all along.

Dooley through Butch wanted to:
- Try to outrecruit while losing (think of Pruitt's halftime interview vs Bama smdh) because they weren't great coaches and knew it. Blame the roster and wait for them to leave.

-Try to win later

CJH is:
-Just win with the current roster and do more with less. Knows he's a great coaches and doesn't blame the current roster for his shortcomings.

-Recruiting will follow

Finally!!

If CJH can keep the offense rolling until we match the talent level of Georgia and Bama and, before conference DC’s figure out a way to slow it, we will be pretty good. If the DC’s figure it out before then, we will be in trouble.

If Heupel continues to stack good recruiting classes, then it won't matter.

Miami, A&M, and Sooners...whoof!
That's why that A&M game scares me. They have a ton of talent, it's a year older and more experienced now and Petrino has always brought the O at all his college stops. Question is whether Jimbo will meddle too much and can they coexist?

Figure it out? Lol

There's nothing to "figure out". It's simply an elite scheme for running the ball. And passing too. It's schematically just a clear advantage. It's a numbers game and he's eating them up rushing with this scheme.

He's been running it for 5 years just as a HC and probably another 5 as an OC. And we just had the #1 offense in the whole damn country with the #19 talent...

If anything Heupel is progressing and widening the gap. Now hand us some elite TEs and RBs and see where it goes haha.

That is the big mystery whether or not BP will fix the offense. Aggies were a giant cluster last year.

Maybe things click for Weigman, but it seemed they blew a great opportunity by not landing a transfer such as the kid ND ended up with or else.

Beautiful to see what have closed the gap on UF.

For the last decade fwir our gap between us and them has been similar to the gap between us and UK. We're ince again joining tier 3/they are also declining to tier 3.

Tier 2 within 2 years imo.

I like the 247 Team Talent Composite idea, but it's generally riddled with errors. Partly because they don't actually know which players are on scholarship and which are walk-ons. Plus, every year I do a spreadsheet of multiple teams and I usually find glaring omissions and erroneous inclusions. I'm running behind this year and have only done my spreadsheet for Georgia and Florida, but I just looked at UGA's composite roster and noticed that they failed to include freshman Kelton Smith because his ranking was missing on their roster. Last year they omitted players from every team I checked.

It's still a nice high-level look at college team talent though and sometimes they go back and correct some of the errors later.

As someone already said, and as I have said in another thread, there is no "figuring out" JH's offense. The wide splits create open space which benefits the run and the pass game. Either you have the personnel to stop it or you don't. That's it. Add the tempo to it and it makes it even tougher on a defense.

We have Heupel nobody else does. That moves our talent up into the top ten. It's called the Heupel Effect: HE = TTC x 1.15

They usually put it out initially, all the fanbases tell them their errors and they adjust. Last year we moved up 1 spot from their initial ranking due to adjustments.
