Tee Martin Appreciation Thread

Ok I'm not on the butthurt train but starting an appreciation thread for the guy that just turned us down is a little much.

Almost like saying "thank you for even considering our lowly program". That is not the way of the Orange. I wish the best for Tee but I want anyone who turns down or bails from a job at UT to regret it. Now or 10 years from now.

Agree.
He had his chance to come home and didn't so let him stay out west with that POS he is with now. Hope he never wears orange again. I sure as hell do not appreciate him!

Man, you guys are a bunch of cry babies. Grow the **** up. He's a grown ass man and he made what he thought was the best decision for his family and his career. He's been gone for 14 years. It's not 1998 anymore. He doesn't owe us anything, he won us a NC for goodness sake.

All by himself? Tell that to Al Wilson.

It's a Lose-Lose-Lose for Vol fans.

If you're pissed about it, you're just a jaded, petty fan.

If you support him, you're just an ass kissing homer stuck in '98.

If you're indifferent, then how dare you not be pissed/be supportive at/of him. You must not be a VFL.

The funny thing is, there's really nothing wrong with being pissed, supportive, or indifferent. I, for one, was pissed when I heard the news, so go ahead and chalk me up to the jaded, petty fan category. Will always love him as a player, but really don't care much for him as a coach after today. Yet I'm sure some of you will see a problem with that.

Dude took off days from work right before a dead period, just to interview with us. He still loves the VOLS and could very well end up coaching here one day. I still got lots if love for the guy.

Tee could be Tennessee's HC in 15-20yrs. but he has to rise through the coaching ranks. Staying at USC might be what's best to continue moving up.

You guys seen how they have recruited the last couple of years...or this year. USC is closer to winning than UT. Probation has hurt them, especially their depth, but those guys will be back soon. I dont like Kiffin, but obviously Tee is loyal to him and to the team hes helping to build...good call. Tee's fine and I wish him well. I think some UT fans are mad about it, and I wish he would have come back, but most people respect Tee and his contributions to UT and support his right to make his own choices. Good luck, Tee! GBO!

Why is it as Vol fans we're always trying to dig up the past to rescue us...good thing General Neyland wasn't seen walking around campus he'd been the next coaching rumor...Tee Martin has a life now and a commitment to USC & a specific coach I hate the son*&#%#&^h...And we outta applaud Tee for standing on his word to stay there..lets forget the past and look towards the future with our new coach i think we're gonna kick some donkey!!!

This is an absolute dumb thread. Tee just turned us down to continue working for possibly the most hated man in Knoxville and folks are getting nostalgic about his glory days. Thank you Tee for making this thread possible. I hope Tee goes to Bama. The meltdown would definitely be worth watching.

Man was the quarterback of the team that won the latest National title in our school history, and loves Tennessee.
I'm 18 and can tell he wanted the job; but, this is a business, he has a family, and he made the best decision for his family right now.
People on here saying he isn't a VFL need to step back from the ledge and take a long, cold, draw of that Martinade that still tastes sweet eventhough it was brewed in '98.
Tee is a legend and a Vol.
Show some couth and stay classy Vol fans.

*btw He will be available next off season when Kiffin gets the boot!

Maybe the case but I no longer want him. I believe we have a better staff with Azzanni. I am in belief he is a better coach and recruiter the more I read on this guy the more I believe he may be the best coach we picked up

I understand the doing right for your family and getting paid aspect, but it is REALLY hard to take that he turned us down for Kiffin. IMO and only based on the stuff I have read it looks like the money was much closer than we will ever know.

I am proud of the staff we have and the fact they wanted to be here. It's time to bring the pride back to Neyland GBO!

I feel bad for his son in Knoxville, not fans. Rediculous to act like we have been betrayed in some way. I agree that he has to put his family first, but his son in Knoxville is his family too. I feel bad for that kid. Not saying Tee made wrong or right decision, just saying that his decision affects more than a fanbase.

exactly. "Dad you got a job offer to move back to Knoxville where you could have an active role in my life?"
"Sorry son, I'm loyal to Lane Kiffin. You know that SOB that left my Alma Mater in the worst possible situation."

Bout covers it!

However, I am very glad he turned us down. We got an upgrade who has his heart at UT. We will be better off.

Tee is now a distant memory.

Thanks for the trip..... But I'm dedicated to my players at USC. Sounds like a true VFL to me. Keep your a$$ on the left coast and sink on Kiffen's ship.
