There is reasonable debate about this, even from individuals that are pro-choice. Pinker notes that the great crime decline was already prevalent before most of what would have been kids, had the fetus not been aborted, would have reached the ages of fourteen and fifteen. A retort to Pinker's analysis could be that, even so, the lack of these unwanted children removes stress, anxiety, and burdens in these communities, and that one is is greatly stressed, anxious, and burdened is more likely to commit crimes. That might be the case; however, the arguments on either side are far from conclusive.
