Tell the truth....

Are you one of the majority of UT fans that filled the stadium or your home with boo's when CBJ decided to punt that last time? Dont lie, you know who you are. Gotta feeling this wont actually end up being a good representation of the facts but we shall see. We are always second guessing the coaches so its time to fess up.

Also, did you want Spurrier to go for it on his final 4th and 2 or did you want him to punt it? I was scared to death and was begging him to punt to be honest.

The last punt was smart because of Shaw being hurt and the timeouts. That said, I wanted him to go for it...

As a fan, I was definitely hoping Spurrier wouldn't go for it on 4th and 2. Had he made it (and I had a horrible feeling he would, especially after Shaw's 8 yard run/conversion), we might not have gotten the ball back. That said, going for it would have been terribly irresponsible of him and really stupid - we weren't moving the ball well in the 2nd half at all so why take a chance of putting us in field goal range right away? Were it not for a miracle catch by North, that would have proven true.

I questioned it at 1st then thought about the backup QB and the way the D was playing and figured he was playing the percentages... and I would never BOO

I just sat there quietly. Honestly I didn't know what to think...I'm not the coach. I sure did get tired of listening to the guy next to me be a negative nancy the entire game. At the point of the game in question in this thread he was saying gotta go for it blah blah blah. Then when we punted it was waah waah waah I don't know if we'll get the ball back.

It all boiled down to the fact that if they went for it and didn't convert- game over. That would be their last play.

By punting, it kept them alive and gave their D another series to get the ball back into Worley's hands.

I didn't boo, but I certainly questioned it. That could have gone south for us had Steve not blown those 2 time outs as he did.

Regardless, that win felt SOOOOOOO good.

I've been a season ticket holder for 8 years, and that was the first time i've almost welled up after a W.

I thought punting was the right call on our side. Sigh of relief to see Spurrier punt instead of go for it.

Where we were at on the field I thought we should go for it I didn't think we would get the ball back, so I fess up.

based on the percentage of volnation posters admitting to booing or questioning the call, it seems like there was only a hundred or so people making a lot noise in that stadium.

I understand how the boo's bother a lot of the people, but as a true Vol fan, what bothers me is doubtful people on here who constantly say that 'OH WE BLEW IT, HERE GOES ANOTHER TOP TEN TEAM WE COULD'VE BEAT' like in the middle of the ball game, and then when we win they try and say they believed in us the whole time and that Butch Jones has always been the real deal. Just watch the game and don't give up on your team, don't ridicule Butch either for the decisions he's made, he obviously knows what he's doing. Put more trust in confidence in your team, and I know that's hard to do at this point of time but I think the win yesterday and the should've been win against Georgia proves that team 117 can just about beat if not hang with just about any team there is in CFB right now.

I didn't boo or get totally bent out of shape, but I was scratching my head. Then I told myself, "oh well, that's what CBJ gets the big bucks for, not me". He earned his pay with that call to punt.

I'll be the guy to admit I boo'd. I boo'd really hard. I saw 4 years flashing before my eyes of heart breaking losses and I wanted us to go for it and get it. In retrospect it paid off. I also was terrified Spurrier was going to go for it.

EDIT: In Butch I trust....always and forever.

:salute:

Our next step is to have the confidence in our defense and know that we would have stopped them if they had tried. Our defense earned some trust yesterday.

I didn't see the logic...at first, then I remembered that their backup was in, and we had those time-outs...

I didn't boo, but I did say (to my TV) WHY?!
