I must be missing why this a boom-worthy addition, other than the fact that we need warm bodies in the secondary. When I look at these stats, I’m far more concerned than I am impressed, especially since he seemed to be better in 2022 than in 2023. Please, someone who understands this transfer better than I do, explain to me why we’re booming here.

He’s a corner. What kind of stats do you want him to have?

There was a year where Darelle Revis was regarded as the best corner in the NFL and had basically zeros for his stats because the ball never went to his side of the field.

In 2022 he was graded in the top 10% at pass coverage. He will continue to develop and he's still more athletic than what we had back there last season.

The DB portal shifts could not have gone much better. We landed two guys with multiple years to play we targeted early to upgrade from the older guys who were looking for unwarranted last year pay days. We also wanted the opportunity to play our younger talent we are paying good money for. All Of this makes sense.

Now we add basically free young depth. Think of this as a replacement for Burrell or Rucker.

Win-win-win

think he’s solid

But also he can’t be worse than most of the guys we just pushed out. You weren’t sick of watching that exact same secondary for what felt like 10 yrs? Plus we added McCoy who can actually play man coverage. When have we had that lately?

Are we targeting another portal DB then since this is likely depth?

Should be finish with adding DBs now. Should be a great battle for all 5 spots in the secondary. We return zero starters. I hope we are open to playing a freshman bc Boo would be great at STAR.

For starters, you can't look at counting stats to evaluate a DB if it doesn't include snaps/targets/receptions.

Because any day a young man wishes to join the Vol faithful is a boom-worthy event. Trust the process and just be happy!

When it comes to corners, particularly starting corners, the fewer stats you see, the better they generally are. Because that means QBs respect them enough not to throw it their way.

2nd team freshman all american, all conference type year, followed up with a season of not having the ball thrown to his side of the field? also, since this seems to matter to people, Wuerffel Award watchlist. good kid too? and we got him cheap? lot of reasons to like this a lot. doubt he comes in thinking he's depth. great pickup

It was just a question, because I don't know the answer. I don't know what to look for, I mean, a couple of INTs would've been nice? Chill hoss

Thank you. Those are things I was looking for. I don't know as much about CB positions or how to analyze it, so that helps.

I never said that... lol I am nauseated at our secondary play over these past 3 years. I was just looking for more info on a kid I know nothing about or how to break it down. I think McCoy will be good, too.

I can’t explain it without knowing context to the stats but they could be bc of injury or bc the opponents avoided throwing to his side.
