I have been very critical of this staff but they really stepped up and called a great game today (both sides of the ball). Also very proud that the team didn't quit when they were behind. Slightly disappointed regarding few unnecessary penalties (especially the one at the end that gave them first down inside our 10 - but that was emotion and we should not fault or single out anyone for the loss today - especially not Pig who was awesome). Perhaps the biggest positive was Worley who looked composed - it's a great sign going forward.

That's long been his best quality. One problem is that he tends to be a beat late getting rid of the ball. But he played well today--I give him and everybody on the much maligned offense credit. Neal made some tough runs--including that dive on 4th down when he was hit in the backfield. He was a warrior against a GOOD defense. Georgia's offense suffered a ton of big injuries, but they've got a very solid front seven. What play did Neal score on--second down? Georgia had nearly two minutes to tie--that was a little too long for us, in the end.

We're not back by a long shot. We are making the progress I was hoping to see. I still think we will be in a bowl game this year.

If this doesn't get you excited about upsetting South Carolina, I don't know what will. We ran the ball well. Worley actually kept one on the read option. Worley made a few good passes. Defense played a great game. Overall, I was very impressed.

That unnecessary roughness penalty that gave them 1st and goal on that last drive felt like the back breaker to me (still don't know what happened on that play - I did not see CBS replay if they even showed one to see what happened).

After Florida and then last weeks anemic win, I was starting to second guess my 6-6 prediction, but today gave me another shot of hope. It is not a moral victory at all, and we still lost. However, I felt way better about the play today then I did the last three weeks.

And to me the key difference between Dooley's LSU game and this one is the fact that Dooley's dumbass is what lost the LSU game straight up. He completely botched the final seconds of that game and it was a harbinger of what was ahead. Because that wouldn't be the last time we would see horrid clock and team management from that idiot. That man absolutely sucked even worse in the final minutes of a close game.

Now, jury is still out on Jones on that front (for me), but today's game showed me a team with way more guts than the past three years. Had this been a Dooley team the final score would have been easily 34-3 as they just laid down whenever they found themselves behind most times. But we still need to see if Jones can actually win the "close" ones still and do it more often than not.

I also predicted a 6-6 season. After today's performance, I believe the Vols will do better than 6-6.

I was -> <- That close to saying the same thing but I'm stopping short. At this point I have to be brutally honest and still don't see us beating Bama or SC (although SC is a possiblity). However, today did reaffirm my belief that Vandy, KY, and Mizzou are very winnable with Auburn being not too much worse. Of those four I believe Tennessee is very capable of pulling out 3 wins. Anything else will be icing but I won't be disappointed if it doesn't happen.
