Tennessee’s Bruce Pearl should have lied. And kept lying.

While I don't know what seperates a real cheater from a fake cheater I would say there is a lesson here for anybody skirting the rules. Maybe Cal will slip up one day, but if he is cheating he is certainly going about in a wise undocumented fashion.

Lesson 1 - Don't cheat.

Lesson 2 - If you are going to cheat, don't be stupid about it.

Lesson 1 - Don't cheat.

Lesson 2 - If you are going to cheat, don't be stupid about it.
Lesson 3- If you cheat and are stupid about it, thus getting caught, take your lumps and be contrite. Don't try to tell a ridiculous lie to extricate yourself.

We all know you're smart but, there's no need for you to make up words.

You are correct the lesson is, that if you are wanting to play at Auburn or Mississipi State it is ok to seek $180,000. for your service, but you are are wanting to play at Tennessee and they offer you food, Don't Eat it, it's against the rules> :hi:

Try grabbing a clue. Do you not understand that the NCAA is still investigating the Barn and they are going to get destroyed.

No. I said the investigator already had the photo before he met w Pearl. It's obvious that the recruit had the picture but if you're going to cheat, you might want to consider preaching a bit of discretion.
I'm not saying you said it. Obviously Pearl or none of his coaches or players took, or turned the picture over to the "AA". IMO, that leaves Craft or Selby. Do you, hat or lawvol have a better answer? Could it be Jones or Forbes in a conspiracy to get rid of Pearl? I don't know.Just askin.

How many championships would he have to loose to the AA for you to admit he cheated, or do you believe that having a junior rather than a senior over for a BBQ is worse than that?

When Slime suspends him come talk to me.

Is Clay correct that hosting senoirs would have been OK?? wow if this is true, it makes what he did even less of an issue

Yeah, since he was hosting juniors which is illegal, it is hardly an issue at all. He should have just lied and said he thought they were seniors.

An insider at the University who should know indicates that Pearl's assistants lied and informed Pearl that they had lied to the NCAA. Pearl then decided to go along and also lie to try to protect his assistants. I don't know that this would make any difference even if it is true, but it is apparently the position that the university is taking to minimize the situation with Pearl.

Bruce Pearl isnt making the NCAA a billion dollars in January either. Do any of you not think that he would have been suspended and thrown under the bus if he played at Miss St.? Of course he would have because MIss St. isnt playing for a fabricated national title. the NCAA wasnt going to take a chance on allowing a media death wish to occur by letting TCU in the title game.

Well, if he had been playing for MState, they likely would be in the title game. Their defense is better than Auburn.

How many times am I going to have to tell people that the NCAA sees zero money from the BCS games? And that the entire purpose of the BCS is circumvent the NCAA. Do I have to put together a damn power point slide?

So, UT is taking a position that says Pearl's "I was just surprised and lied in the spur of the moment" version of events is another lie and he conspired with his assistants to mislead the 'AA? I don't think the boys in Indy are going to be real moved by that approach.

Cal, even though I don't like him saying he's staying and then leaves the next day at Memphis, if he is guilty of anything, has the natural ability to skirt around issues and keep his trap shut. He's just playing the game everyone else plays. Just think back how hard it was for Kiffin to stay within the "rule's/ boundaries" when he was at UT, as if he had been allowed not to cross every t and dot every i out west. Just saying.

I agree Hat. I don't think the NCAA is going to buy any of this. However, it appears that UT is buying it and is intent on keeping Pearl regardless of the NCAA outcome. This insider is solid for Pearl and buys the story of his attempting to protect his assistants. He also says the NCAA has already advised UT that they will give every consideration to the fact that Pearl requested another meeting where he finally told the truth and that this would serve to minimize any further sanctions.
