Not to open old wounds, but USCjr and UF both have lesser talent than us, and yet somehow got Heupel’s squad last year and then this year. Both because of secondary play—more so USCjr but we also made Mertz look like a heisman hopeful for a full quarter.
Those were different games. We couldn’t keep up with SC last year and you are correct in that the secondary played a big role in it. But against Florida I’d put the loss on the offense. Lots of pre-snap penalties and the horrific INT by Milton in the first half. That was essentially a pic 6 (2 plays after the return set them up at the 7yl.

The defense is significantly improved this year. The reason we gave up so many intermediate throws to Kentucky is because we loaded the box on virtually every play to take away the run. The idea being to make the Kentucky offense go 12+ plays on every drive. Ultimately, it worked as they had a few drives stall.

UF doesn't use it well most of the time, but they are ranked ahead of Tennessee on the talent composite. Florida always has talent.

Does UF have less talent? From a recruiting standpoint I'm pretty sure they have fared better than us.

And USCjr. We scored easily on them. Our defense wasn't up to the task. Or possibly there is truth to Beaner having our signals. Either way, my point was that Huepel's offense is very effective when the other team has lesser talent. And against USCjr, his offense has had much success.

Missouri is fortunate not to have 4 or 5 losses they beat MTSU by 4 at home, beat Kansas State on last second 61-yard FG at home and beat Memphis by 7 at Home but I will give them they know how to close out close games but if you're top 15 you should handle MTSU & Memphis better@ Home especially.

Mtsu, yes. The Memphis game was supposed to be a home game for Memphis, but they sold out to Missouri for the St Louis Venue. Technically a neutral site. cough cough. And Memphis has a pretty dang good team TY.

Yeah, their head coach went bananas on the sideline and lacked self control yesterday. You could read his lips with all the “F Bombs” when a call (or no call) went against Mizz. I can’t recall the play but he went on a five minute tirade and continued in between plays.

With good reason. Uga & bama get the calls at home; and mostly away.

We need to shut down that RB they have he is the key to that offense.
He’s short and strong determined runner won’t go down on first hit. Will not take a long one to the house by out running DBs like J Wright but if you think you bump him & knock him down be a long day. He we will 5 & 10 yard you down the field.

VOLS have to play all four quarters. Can’t take a quarter off with play calling or execution or Mizzou will get away from us. Secondary has to have a good game. Soft zone won’t cut it against Cook. It’s basically a pick em’. We’ll see how Mizzou recovers from a tough game with UGA.

You guys all know that the line out of Vegas is designed to get enough money bet on both teams so that the lost bets, that the bookie collects on, zero out the won bets, that the bookie has to pay, right? It is in no way predictive of who is going to actually win and by how much.

I got in at UT -1 this morning. I’m curious if that line will continue to move

You know, I would be concerned about the 'Vols underachieve on the road' blah blah blah

But I have attended a Vols game @ MO

Vandy has more of a home field advantage--and that is with 40,000 Vols fans overpaying to fill in the empty seats
