Promising new head coaches
A QB battle entering the season
Tough schedules
Expectations varied from about 5-7 to 7-5

A&M shocked the college football world last year. Not saying this will happen, but is it possible the Vols could do the same thing?

Ahh, the last surge of ridiculous optimism in late August. It's been a tradition ever since Crompton and Clawson took over.

no and I didn't even read it. Why post this? We all wish we were wrong and because we said no, does not mean we are not true fans. Thank you.

Are any of our quarterbacks rich spoiled brats?

i'm one of the few who defend johnny football.

but, i'm going to get real here.

manziel is doing nothing that god knows how many athletes have done in the past. they just did it during an age where there wasn't facebook and twitter. and in 1985, espn didn't do stories on college kids attending parties.

it's a damn shame espn wasn't around doing that sort of thing in the 80's to show what players for "da U" did in their off time.

young star athletes drinking and hooking up with good looking women is as american as apple pie and chevrolet (or ford depending on your favorite driver :))

people act like somehow he's different.

A&M had one the EASIEST schedules ever in the SEC and possibly in the nation last year.

First off, they had their first game post-poned. So they actually had an extra week to get ready for Florida...which they LOST.

Let's go down the list the next games.

SMU - W

South Carolina STATE - W

ARKANSAS - W (oh no! Their team didn't even have a head coach!..you crushed them Aggies! Great job! and welcome your first SEC win!)

Ole Miss - W ( O.K... Aggies you beat them out by 3 pts. Now you know the grind of the SEC)

Louisiana Tech - W ( but barely!!!!.. glad it wasn't another SEC team!...but next game?)

LSU - L ( we had this one coming...)

Auburn - W (yes! we beat a team full of media distractions and a coach most likely gone anyways!)

Miss. St - W (of course we won! Our last game was a scrimmage!)

ALABAMA - W ( we got SO SO SO LUCKY and barely won)

Sam Houston - W ( duh..)

Missouri - W ( I beat out my younger brother! yeah!)

That's why I love college ball. Anything can happen, although not likely, but so is winning the lottery and people still buy tickets. Go vols

Yes, it is possible, in the strictly mathematical sense. I'd say we are looking at a 5% chance of that happening.

If I ever get this time-machine working we'll play the season back until it happens. After I smother Hitler in his crib, of course, spend a day learning carpentry from Jesus, go out carousing with Ben Franklin, divert Magic Johnson's hook shot in Game 6 of the 1987 finals, and fix all previous Tennessee football injustices . . . you know, the important stuff.

Negavol IMO.

But seriously, it's nice to see a voice of reason through all of the orange tinted crap that's constantly posted.

By no means do I expect this to happen... I was saying that there is a possibility. To be honest, I myself would be surprised with any more than 7 wins. But I'm not gonna just write this season off though when we haven't even played a game yet. We could be the big surprise of college football, or on the other end of the spectrum, we could suck and finish 4-8. You just never know in this sport.

Love the alabama comment. Can't really dog them for that win so throw in a "so, so, so lucky and barely won" comment out there.

Didn't know teams have been routinely crushing Alabama so that "barely" winning isn't all that impressive.

They've won more sec games in the last three seasons than Tennessee and weren't even a member of the league until last season

He's right though gator, that is an easy schedule in hindsight - Love the dig at us in the last sentence.

And Bama had 3 turnovers - A&M had zero, so you could say they were lucky
