And absolutely necessary if UT is going to rebuild the program. They need all four of those wins.

The disappointing part is LSU and Bama being stacked together and the position of the bye week.
its not fair to the fans or the sport. waiting 8 months to see these games is horrible. Would much rather play UNC, UCLA, and Florida state or Miami

Last 3 games will be crucial to the success of the season.

The trip to Pitt could be fun. I've heard it's a nice city.
Pittsburgh is a fun city, lots of great food, museums, etc. Playing college football off campus is always a minus in my opinion but Heinz Field is a good venue.

I'll be there.

I went through there about 5 years ago and was pleasantly surprised. I didn't stay very long but long enough to visit Heinz Field and PNC Park. It was football season and even pretty sure I saw Big Ben driving up to the stadium. That baseball stadium is way too nice for a team managed like the Pirates.

So you would rather subject a rebuilding program to a likely loss than help build it with winnable games? Of all the things UT needs right now... adding an "unwinnable" OOC game isn't one of them.

UT can and apparently will get back to higher caliber OOC games soon enough. The addition of OU and Texas may also eliminate an OOC contest and make us glad that we have 3 cupcakes.

I can’t believe some of you guys are complaining about the schedule.

1) Trading Akron for Army is a good move. Our program needs warmup games before having Florida as our first SEC game. Army can pick off any team not prepared for that rushing attack and their style can get guys hurt in the trenches.

2) LSU as the crossover is just fine. Who do you wanna play instead? They likely will have a new coach and a bunch of guys transfer in the off-season, and if they don’t (and keep Coach O) I don’t think they’ll be a great team.

3) Florida has to go to Texas AM.

4) UGA has to play us the week after UF.

I like the schedule a lot.

We lost to Georgia State and had 3 losing seasons since 2014. What makes you think Memphis wouldn't have a winning record against us since? Are you scared of them like you are Army?
We aren’t scared of anyone. And we have been better than Memphis because we actually play a real schedule not some AAC CUSA joke of one. They are nothing and always will be

So the Missouri game shifted back down into November? And also the South Carolina game was shifted into November?

I dont consider any of those a
games "likely losses" and I would rather see a game that matter rather than watch a game agaisnt Akron and ball state that do nothing.

UT does no worse and often better in that regard than most of the SEC. UGA plays GT and uses that routinely as an excuse not to play anyone else of merit.

UF is easily the lamest in that regard. They use FSU as their excuse to essentially play no one. Their last 3 OOC schedules not counting the all SEC '20 schedule:

2018
Charleston Southern FCS
Colorado St- 3-9
Idaho FCS
FSU 5-7

2019
Miami 6-7
UTM FCS
Towson FCS
FSU 6-7

2021
FAU currently 2-1
USF currently 1-2
Samford FCS
FSU currently 0-3

Those games btw "do something". They give UT wins AND opportunities to work up to better and eventually elite opponents. I think you've often talked about "where the program is" in a negative light. Continuing to post losses in "big games" will continue to hurt recruiting which will continue to keep the program "where it is". Those games though they may be boring to you give UT opportunity to win while developing guys and winning recruits.

It would be very nice if Allegiant keeps that direct flight to Pittsburgh through that time!

No they wouldn’t. The Tiggers are terrible and always will be. There is a reason no respectable conference wants them. So calling them a “tough” opponent is silly.
They just beat MS St, and I'm not sure we're much better than them. They would've won some... unfortunately LOL

Memphis could have very easily beaten us since 2014. And I think many people here even know that. Personally I think an annual rivalry with Memphis would not only be good for both schools but for the state as well. I would like to see us have an annual rivalry with them or UCLA.
Lol how random

Georgia has played Norte dame in 2019 and Clemson this season along with playing Georgia tech
Florida has played Miami in addition to Florida st and this year played a team like south Florida that while terrible is better than Akron or bowling green lol this is inarguable.
I understand the argument that we need guaranteed wins to help build the program but if we want fans in Neyland stadium we have to play better teams there. Heck I don’t think army is good but that’s a much more intriguing team to watch

Depending on where you're coming from (and if they're still in business), Spirit Airlines flys to Latrobe, which is about 40 miles east of Pittsburgh.

How TF you predicting next year before this year even finishes lmao

I’ve seen enough to know that this isn’t going to come easy as some think. Until we get solid depth Tennessee just isn’t going to be good. Especially with instability at the most important position in football.

I'm seeing 8 wins.

ball
pitt is a revenge game with a year of recruiting
akron
lsu is shambles rn. they will be down next year
ut Martin
KY should be a win every year
SPLIT mizz/SC
CANDY

that's a totally resonable 8.

LSU still has athletes and on the road
Kentucky isn’t a given anymore
Until we can defend Missouri consistently that’s not a guarantee either

I’ll give you SC and Vandy

What a damn joke of a schedule. Apparently the administration believes that the only path forward to a winning record is to schedule the worst possible opponents in the nation.
