I kind of miss Ivy. Few recent posters have been more entertaining. Not to mention that she was able to pull off the greatest troll maneuver for months before ultimately departing.

I'm highly unconvinced that Ivy is not still on the board. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it ended up she just created a new "character".

Ivy, is zat yew?

If that's for me gule, you should know better, unless you're still too busy peddling your hang bag line down in FL. That "I'm too sour and old and grumpy-pussed to ever see anything good in an LV game ever again" posture couldn't be much lamer.

Cheer up. it's Xmas season, and we all know that you've decked the house with mistletoe and lots of Holly as you snuggle in for your next LV viewing. Don't get too down if the LVs jump out to an early lead.

Ok, I am new, but who is IVY?
ivyleaguer was a troll who constantly posted blindly admirable Holly smarm and usually way too pollyannish predictions. There was a similar troll on the BY for a while though he used a different tactic to tick everyone off there. And there are two BY vets I know of who might have had the fortitude to do ivy over here for all those months, but it would take someone who was just miserably ugly inside to keep that schtick up for more than a week.

Well, ivyleague kept it up for well past a week.

To add to DR2's synopsis:

ivyleague was a kind and humble soul. She purportedly graduated from Harvard, but because she didn't want to come across as bragging, she didn't include evidence of her superior education in her username. She also went out of her way not to let out this great secret in any of her posts, and usually only referenced her Harvard education once or twice every sentence. She was a great LV fan, but ashamed to wear LV gear outside of Tennessee because she went to Harvard after all and was an ivy leaguer who would never be caught dead wearing college apparel from such a lowly school. If you were not a supporter of Holly, she would trash you and call you a loser, miserable , remind you that everyone hates you and suggest you just go kill yourself. She was remarkably charming, as one would expect from a classy ivy league educated woman (did I mention she went to Harvard?).

Unfortunately, dear ivyleague disappeared for good once it was clear that the LV basketball train had derailed and was heading over the cliff. We miss you, Peppermint Patty. Hopefully one of your new aliases will prove to be equally engaging.

Seven SEC teams in the current poll:
3. SC
6. MSU
17. UK
19. UF
22. UT
23. AU
25. TAMU

Undefeated VT unranked with 33 votes (compared to 99 for Tennessee).

I don't get who would vote for Tennessee given the fact that they can't beat teams that are better than DII quality. I suspect they will disappear from the polls for good this season after the back-to-back losses to Baylor and Texas.

It is still about the name and history. Without the history Pat built, it is doubtful that we would be ranked ahead of PSU or VT.

DR2 joined in feb 2016 but knows the history of Ivy? :eek:k:

But I've so admired your work for years, gule, with its consistent one-note cheery brightness. Actually the Feb date coincides with something else, but I know I won't get banned from the VN for the same offense since you are the chief culprit of it over here. Stats are more my thing anyway, and I could "prove" to you that Holly is a really great coach because this year's team's FT% and rebounding average are much better than Candace's teams and have you go ballistically ape, or prove that she is just dismal because of that nasty -1.0 turnover margin against a not so impressive group of teams. The last two NC teams were at 4.3 and 6.6 against the full slate, and yes, a difference of 5 to 7 TOs a game is massive.

And how does Amb know that ivyleaguer was a woman? Or is that just the professed status? Definitely looked like a guy's type of writing to me. And didn't ivy disappear before the Tourney? You would have thought he\she could have made some hay in March for a while.

Ivyleague self identified as a woman and lesbian. And her writing style definitely supported the stereotypical, in your face, "I'm so much better than you!", ultra-left wing feminist caricature. Based on her character design, she struck me as less Harvard and more Smith.

I recalled she disappeared around the time of either the Alabama or LSU loss. And to be honest, the tournament wasn't much to write up about. Low seed, beat an overrated Arizona State team, beat a declining and injury-ravaged OSU team, then got destroyed by Syracuse. Not a happy ending in my book.

I miss Ivy :(....she received so much hate just because half the posters couldn't comprehend her post or had no comebacks for them. R.I.P Ivy.... :)

Actually she received so much hate because she couldn't make a post without calling people stupid, losers, or suggesting they go kill themselves. People had no comebacks for her because she wasn't worth the time to respond.

I hope you're joking. If Ivy was serious with what she posted, then only someone whose life is a living hell projects as much hate and anger as she did. If that's the case I hope things get better for her. But I don't miss her at all.

I only miss Ivy because she decided to look at the bright side of things instead of the constant hate and negativity....that's all. I didn't care if she called other posters stupid because we've all done it and the reality is, some poster post stupid ****....all the time :)
