I know there are several people on here who are college students (one at a Big 10 school that SUCKs at basketball) and they continue to mock me despite having made no accurate predictions or even displaying real basketball knowledge.
BPV, Hatvol, HF and a few others display again and again deep knowledge of basketball. Sometimes they have a blind spot because of their dislike for coach Pearl, but they generally have and display knowledge.
There are several around here that see people piling on a particular poster, and join in for the fun of it. Just like people who stop by and comment on a thread or post of mine, saying something about Calimari or Kensucky, contributing absolutely nothing to the conversation. Such people are idiots and not worth the effort it takes to retort.
As for myself, I give you shat because you seem man enough to to take it. Quite frankly, its an easier way to communicate if the other person is thick skinned enough to handle it. Its never anything personal, believe it or not. Its no secret I think some of the things you say are competely out of left field. Its just easier to say it bluntly and to the point than beat around the proverbial bush.
Enough of that. On to something else...
As for you mentioning me in a group that "dislikes" Pearl, thats a false assumption. I have never said I didn't like him as a man or a coach. I simply disagree with you (and others) who sometimes maintain that the man has no flaws whatsoever. I simply point out weaknesses and potentional future issues, which apparently are not acceptable.
One thing you can't say about me is that I won't do the exact same with my own fanbase and my own coach. I will be glad to sit and talk about Calipari's defencies all day long, which quite frankly there are a few. Pearl is a good coach, and a great motivator, and great for your school. He's just not what most people want to proclaim him as (yet). Some moron placed Bruces name in a sentence with Wooden, Knight, Williams, and Izzo. Stuff like that makes me lose my verbal patience and tend to set them in their place.
Now, as to your original post.....
1. From 2001-2010 Bruce Pearl was a combined 211-84 at UWM and UT. From 2011-2020, Bruce Pearl will have a better record, eclipsing even his DII success by averaging 25 wins per season. He will remain behind Roy Williams as fastest to various milestones in victories (500, 600) among active coaches.
25 per season should be the standard and minimum for UT in the SEC over that time period. Not only should you want it, but you should expect it.
2. Pearl will resist the call to the NBA. He loves his East Tennessee wife, he loves his church, he loves being loved by everyone here (message board coaches not included) and he saw what happened to Pitino. He also knows that while he is a great recruiter and can motivate young men who need playing time from him to succeed, he will not have the same sway over millionaires.
I don't see Pearl as an NBA guy myself. He can be a rockstar on campus and still make great money. I don't see him in the league.
3. As Pearl returns to high scoring and high pressure full court defense, Tennessee basketball will reach a higher stage of national popularity amongst gamblers and high school players than it has ever seen up to this point.
Can't disagree with that. I don't know if it pans out in terms of better team success, but it certainly vaults the programs status up in the eyes of elite prospects looking to make a pit stop before heading to the NBA.
4. Tennessee will start 2010 and 2011 with top 5 recruiting classes and top 5 attendance.
Certainly looks that way.
5. Tennessee basketball by 2013 will have multiple NBA starters succeeding in the league, making it even easier for Bruce to recruit top talent.
I'm not so certain. Perhaps.
6. In the coming decade, Bruce will break the 3 million mark in compensation. His boat will still never compare to Haynesworth's.
He better, or it will mean that he has drastically underachieved. I think he will break 3 million within the next 2 or 3 years. (although I don't know the length/terms of his current contract)
7. In years that Bruce does not go to the Sweet Sixteen and further, he will be a commentator for CBS sports for the remainder of the tournament.
I can see him in the studio doing the halftime stuff, but not on the sideline.
8. TN will win an SEC tournament championship and an SEC championship. Within the decade we will win at least two.
Thats a bet I would take.
9. TN will win a national title. Bruce Pearl will also get to at least 1 other Final Four.
Not sure what you mean by 1 OTHER final four, seeing as how has not been to one. However, I do think he gets there. I can't agree with the national title as of yet.
10. TN will be seen around the U.S. as a top 10 program.
