Tennessee can keep up with Kentucky...

I've said it before and I'm going to keep saying it until they prove me wrong. This staff evaluates players like they are still coaching in the Horizon League. Look at some of the people we've given scholarships to during Pearl's tenure. There are a larger than acceptable number of players who had no busines receiving an SEC roster spot.

I agree that we have had too many "project" players like Williams, Woolridge, and Jurich.

Wasn't intentional. I would definitely like to see Pearl stay and get it on a different track. I want him to chop the nets on a regional final. I genuinely do. I simply don't think his coaching style lends itself to that type of success.

Regional final? Hell, I'd settle for an SEC tourney title.

I was speaking about last year's freshman. I think they plus Maze's ineffectiveness at the point were the problem. They simply weren't ready to play that style.

Other than Hopson, last year's team really didn't depend on any of the freshman. And if they weren't ready to play that style as opposed to not being able to that's still Pearl's fault.

I disagree. I concede we relied on Smith and Chism the most, but losing the entire back-court and relying on all freshman and Maze at PG and SG was what hurt us the most. If you disagree, you must have not watched many games. To me, I can attribute the Freshman's inability to effectively press and extend defensively as physical immaturity instead of it just being Pearl's fault. If we see the same this year, I will blame Pearl.

All freshman? Hopson was the only true freshman that averaged more than 9 minutes a game. Tatum had an entire RS year to prepare himself to play and a year of prep school I believe. Maze is a JUCO guy with experience at Okla. You don't bring guys like Maze in unless you are desperate or believe they are ready to play now.

Last year's team did not depend on freshman plain and simple.

Last year's team (freshman-seniors) under-achieved.

The previous 3 teams (freshman-seniors) over-achieved, for the most part.

I'm hoping this year's team just simply achieves, or better.

Rob Garrison,
Ben Eaves,

Joshnochimpson can only take you so far with your cheating.

He graduates 1 in 4 African American players, and they are not all going to the NBA.

Calhoun is a miserable cheater, but he is also not someone I would ever want a friend or loved one to be coached by and he has missed on his share of kids.

This is very, very simple.

Pearls record against Billy Clyde. Pearls overall record against UK when UK WAS down.

That does not translate well for UT in the future.

As far as talent. I think it's clear the top talent is not going to UT.

Thank goodness we have ourselves another Kentucky troll. One who believes wwwes isn't involved in Cal's recruiting process, to boot.

What we need is Pearl focused on basketball for us to continue to have some success. Coaching in Isreal doesn't help UT's program in any way. I think he's beginning to lose himself in the spotlight. Pearl needs to get better assistants that can recruit as well aka not Tony Jones.

When will the Kentucky fans understand the transitive property doesn't always work in sports? I can't tell you how many Cat fans say because Pearl had a losing record against Gillispie then, naturally, he will get killed by a better coach in Cal. Doesn't anyone up there realize Pearl actually has coached again Cal 4 times? Or realize that styles make match ups?

Um... no. DUH. :p

They could bring Isiah Thomas to UK and coach, and automatically because he is at UK, he is a better coach than your coach. Kentucky math is simple.

Whoever we have (because were UK) > What you have (because your not)

Most of the time, the UK fanbase either fails to acknowledge or is in complete denial of things such as match-ups, rhetoric, playing style, etc. We win because were better. Sound logic.

I hate downgrading my own fanbase, but sometimes its borderline ridiculous.

Well, thank you. I guess admission is the first stage in recovery.:)
