you worked with Alexa coach jumper ?
I put her through about 35 drills.
She knew most of them, but liked going through the skills she had but had not used for a while. . . There were several that were very new to her and the way I taught her to practice them were unique to my coaching. I see signs of them in her game.
It doesn't take long to win the "desire to learn" from an athlete....
All you have to do is make sure that they never impress you consistently... You don't tear down their game, but you also never accept that they have reached their peak...And you better be a better coach than they are,, an athlete....If you ain't above their level,,,You are toast!
One workout with DD and I think I could turn her around immediately. She just needs to be around someone she can't impress.
thanks for the info Coach Jumper :hi:
Alexa has improved her game this year, like ladyvols said she is out of control at times but I think she will come around and settle down a bit,as she gets more game time this year ,I would like for her to get more playing time along with Dunbar
and have you worked with any of the other players ?
Question? Why does Middleton Play out of control and why were you allowed to work with Middleton , but not the others, and are you suggesting that lady vols are not doing skill drills for there players?
what you call out of control, is simply a high rate of speed to Alexa. To play any way but at full speed would confuse her.
The trick is to take that natural "extra-energy" that makes her "reach" and replacing it with anticipatory footwork drills... Help her to channel that energy into tactic.
++++++++++++
I want success for these young women athletes. I was actually angry and hurt by what I saw this past game.
As long as I feel I can help, then I can't ignore "why" I am feeling that feeling.
Last year it was said often that these girls don't work hard enough on their off-season skills.
I needed to find out for myself, and did. . . These girls are dedicated. Two, were willing to work with me this summer and more who were looking for summer coaches.
Not all of us are/were blessed with opportunities in life, to do what we feel we were put here to do. So, yes, if I get the opportunity to show I can teach at this level, I will take it!
And did.
Ok, what I call out of control is .. she dribbles in the land you can see the players there and more athletic and she doesn't seek there body to create contact and she not focusing on the rim she just throws a I hope I make it shot. I want success as well I would love to brag about how my favorite team is so good . But I do believe they do work on there game and just not seeing benefits of work . But they do miss a lot of wide open shots.
Your mission, Agent Jumper is to assemble performance charts , both offensive and defensively for the UT LADY Vols next game vs the Texas Lady Longhorns. If you accept this assignment, remember that in no way is there to be a monetary reimbursement. If discovered by the agents of H O L L Y you will be disavowed as a member of Volnation and assigned to 3 weeks of watching reruns of the "View" This message will be deleted in 24 hrs. or maybe not.
I am re-watching the game against Baylor.
I am going to go through it and chart it as if I my input was valid.
Good look, bad look?
Good pass, bad catch or vice-versa.
Good foul or foolish foul.
It will be interesting to see what I can see.
For instance, if you look at A/M's first shot, it was off a dribble-curl to an unguarded jump-shot.
An excellent look.
She just missed it.
That's fixable with reps.
No...Meme asked for me, but I think CHW already had plans for her...
I would have had Meme for over a month. She would have been a good one for me. I think I could have shown her how to use her speed. . .
I made sure I had the ok from her HS coach and her Mom first her family, first. I think that is important. If I am to influence someone's daughter, they should be in on it.
I do wonder,
if I had had that time with them both....The team for that matter.
I'd love to take them through a breakdown of 9-man and explain to them how "flow" can beat speed.
again thanks for the info :hi: has Alexa gotten you a chance to talk with CHW yet ? I do like a lot of your post about what the Lady Vols need and some I don't lol
I was stunned that she even knew about me being on there. But then again, the power of this site IS formidable. All you have to do is track the recruiting page and you can see the direct influence.
well it is the best place to find information about the Mighty Lady Vols of Tennessee :hi: or so I think anyway,I thought that players and recruits would look here ,but now I know it
I'm like you,I wouldn't want somebody that will agree with whatever I say,I have been wrong before in my life, even if it was just onceand yes, that is my story lol
I've said it before on here that players check this site out and have been told oh no way, which I though was bull hockey, this is the best site around and it is free, why wouldn't the recruits check it out?
I do hope that CHW will give you an interview or at least talk to you about a coaching position, like I said earlier,I lie a lot of what you have to say and a small amount that I don't and how did she know it was you ? lol that is another good question :loco:
best of luck with this Coach Jumper,I would like for you to get a chance at coaching the Lady Vols :good!:
