why do we want to be recognized as the nicer fans in the SEC? A lot of people I talk to go on about how they want us to show the visiting team southern hospitality and so on..
I want us to be known as a place visiting fans don't have a good time at like the swamp or Athens i think it only adds the the home field advantage

Because being hospitable is what we do. We want you to come in, have a nice time, get destroyed on the field, and then leave saying "Wow, knoxville was lovely, the people couldn't be nicer, and damn did they kick our tail..."

Visitors bring lots of money into the Knoxville economy. Also serves no purpose to be mean spirited simply because someone is a fan of another school. Cheer for your team and down them out is the best way to deal with it. Sending them home a loser also helps

Having douchebag fans don't add to the homefield advantage. You're just wrong on that.

Tennessee is the heart of the South. We touch upon virtually every other southern state. East Tennessee is the Smile in the Heart of Southern Hospitality. I truly hope we can extend that to real sportsmanship when we are hosting the fans of other teams in our state, city, and stadium.

Exactly what this guy said

The stadium can be loud and intimidating without everyone acting like raging assclowns toward one another. I've always been a part of tailgates where it doesn't matter what team you're cheering for. You're there to be a part of the atmosphere just like me. Why would I ask someone to spend hundreds of dollars to get things thrown at them and sworn at?

Respect and class is what knoxville should be looked at by other fans coming to knoxville. If I was some gator fan I would embarrassed of a few idiots throwing piss balloons, spitting, throwing drinks and running their mouths. Getting your azz kicked with class is my style and not acting like an idiot.

How about I come to your workplace on a daily basis and ride your A$$ and tell you how worthless you are and how you shouldn't even be there. Then I will procede to make fun of you and make you miserable on your way out of the office to your car. How much fun would you have?

You must be one of the trolls that go around to other message boards and act like an idiot.

Some may "want us to be recognized as nice fans" but we aren't. :)

And everyone knows it.

Like some others have mentioned in the past - we're the type of fanbase that...

Gets killed by 3 TD's, tells a random rival fan we should have won, waits for next year, emails the coach to run up the score, goes to the game the following year, finds the same random rival fan, flicks the bird and says "told ya *****!"...

I was raised to be polite to everyone, and if someone is being a jerk, then I will be the bigger/better person!

This attitude has served me well for the last 50 years!

If you've ever had a bad experience as a visiting fan, you remember how bad it sucked; especially if the only thing you did was show up to cheer for your team. Remember that feeling the next time you want to give an opposing fan a hard time just because they are rooting for their team. If they are causing problems, just get security and have them removed.

Why? Why? Really? Because we are southerners, not northerners. Because my Mom, God rest her soul, always expected me to be hospitable to visitors in my house.
